It's not a matter of listening to anyone. It's simply that Toho is contractually unable to sell the movie to North American distributors at this time. Even if the petition has millions upon millions of signatures it won't make a difference due to legal problems.

Toho owns the movie, yes, but there is a contractual issue with selling the movie to an American distributor right now. Apparently this was an agreement made back in 1985 when the film was first released in America. The agreement is keeping Toho from selling it to an American distributor that can put it on DVD/Bluray for us. We don't know many details beyond that discription-- at least I don't.
Remember, Toho doesn't put Godzilla movies on DVD/Bluray in America. They sell the movies to American distributors that do that for them.

For the sake of confusion we'll probably lock this one down before we make the new one. I'm glad so many agree with this decision though. We just want everyone (or as many as possible) to be on the same page. There's no reason to make entirely new threads about how you pre-ordered a toy or found a new image of the latest figure...etc... We can have one thread for that and everyone can sound off every opinion and thought they have about it there without making repeat topics or topics that are nothing more than sub-topics of other threads.
The majority of the topics made in the Godzilla 2014 section are repeat threads. I mean, come on fellas, how ridiculous is it that a forum section about one movie that has yet to come out has 1,500 discussions and another forum section about a 28 movie film series spanning 60 years has only 296 discussions? In truth it's because the Classic Godzilla section has far less repeat topics than the Godzilla 2014 section. We need minimize this as much as possible.
But Biollante is over here now. I got her last...um...any ways, I have Godzilla vs. Biollante on dvd. Also what contractual issues? I don't get that. It's Toho's movie! Who else has rites to Godzilla 1984?

I completely agree with you. There's no need for repeat topics, and I'm pretty sure that like you said, this website is going to be crazy tomorrow if you don't do this. I think it's a great idea.

Quentin Tarantino tried to get this movie and Biollante over here on DVD a while ago and couldn't because of legal bullshit.
Best you can hope for is a subtitled region 0 release of it as far as dvds go.

OMG that IS the design from that poster! I've had the leaked one set as the screen saver for my phone for a while now and I just held my phone up to compare.... the poster may be different but that is the EXACT same design!! Lighting is slightly different but regardless it's it! I'm saving this...
Yeah, its not the Brazil poster. But its darn close! Maybe this is its second cousin! :)
Even though the setup, background, and text is different, that is TOTALLY the same body. Ive been staring at the two posters for half an hour and they are definitely the same. The color is a little off, but its the same pose and everything. The details on the body and spines are identical. The Brazil poster just cuts off the bottom of Godzilla's chest. I think this is real! :D
