I've actually thought about this quite a bit and I believe that the biggest loss of life and damage to the environment will be due to humanity's desperation to end these creatures! Nuclear bombs being dropped in a last ditch effort onto heavily populated areas or something of the like. There just my thoughts and speculation!
^But that's completely how they would do it to appease not only both fan bases, but the studios as well. The only way a Godzilla vs. Gamera movie could be done right is if a mutual threat is introduced and after fighting for most of the movie they join forces to end the new threat.
I agree I'd rather Toho/Daiei do it, but Toho would never agree to that. They don't want or need a Godzilla vs. Gamera movie. Never have. So if Toho doesn't want it, why would Legendary? There's even less use for a Godzilla vs. Gamera movie in the international market considering Gamera's popularity outside of Japan is practically non-existant.
Valkorin- yeah it was in one of the recent tv spots (i think). its the same scene of the winged muto diving into the sea as the one in one of the older trailers.
It's the day before my first A-Level exam, so I'll have to see...
This topic has been debated to death as far back as early January, it's getting rather annoying. Either you love em', hate em', or are "meh" towards them. I appreciate you sharing yours but it didn't need to really be a topic.
So I'm shuttin' her down.
There you go, question answered.

I don't want to sound rude or critical, I just want to help.
The trailer so far looks pretty good, but in some parts the music doesn't go with the imagery, like some of the parts of Brayan Cranston's interrogation scene or when the images start going really fast.
I would advice you to use more from the dramatic images and dialoge from the human characters. You usted some good ones, but you should also include something like the images and dialogue from the "I can't believe this is happening" and "Whatever it takes" TV spots (you know, sad, dramatic stuff).
And I think you should cut off the scene with the concept creature from the Comic-Con footage.
Again, I don't want to sound judgemental or anything, I just wanted to give you some tips so the trailer looks even better. :)
Also, @GUATEGOJIRA has a really good idea there!
(By the way whats the name of that song?)
I initially hated the feet but I think that I'm getting over it now. The feet are fine, I guess.
Yeah I actually really like the feet too. I don't get why so many people hate the feet so much. They are awesome!
That 8 legged one is huge......if its to scale with Las Vegas destruction.......yikes. Definitely large enough to confront Godzilla.
It came from this year's WonderCon.
Excuse me while I go into stasis-lock for the next 20 days...
If the movie is awesome, I'm going to stay home and watch it all freaking day!
Where did you find this pic.

This hasn't been in any trailer to date.
MY GOODNESS @TRUE AMERICAN GODZILLA THAT IS AN AMAZING PIECE OF ARTWORK YOU FOUND THERE! Jane Green must be a great artist.
@GOJIRA2K That is some really nice work you made there!
@LEBRONJAMES - My thoughts exactly on the images.
@JUNKERDE - Ohkay lol.
I'll be going to the midnight showing, and I'll be in at work the next day some time after lunch.
It just keeps getting better and better!
After watching the WonderCon footage, I´m really REALLY hyped...even more than when the movie was first anounced!!
The tone of the movie is so fitting, it looks like an awesome movie....the drama, the suspention, the characters....and it happens to have the "KING OF MONSTERS" in it...
I hope this movie forfills our expectation and gets to be recognized (cough<oscar>cough)
I mean it has everything to win, best actor, best supporting actor, best special effects, best script, and best director (He is even almost new!)
I know im getting overboard and prizes (specially oscars) are not important at all, but I´m really rooting for this movie and makes me feel like a child again!
But I'm 13, so how am I gonna see it? Seeing it on the weekend doesn't really sound fun
Probably this one from Godzilla vs Gigan
Dopepope, I can't get over how awesome these are man, wow. Those MUTO models are incredible!
As much as I’d personally like to see a Toho monster appear in any future sequels, I think that the major audience of this current movie (and any of its potential sequels) would be people who aren’t all too familiar with kaiju, since the classic Godzilla movies are a tad obscure. I think that most fans would love to see Mothra, etc, but most moviegoers wouldn’t understand why a giant colorful moth was in the movie. Many Godzilla fans adore Mothra, but random action movie lovers wouldn’t understand the importance of her presence. They’d probably even think like “what’s that giant butterfly doing in this badass monster action movie?!” I love Mothra, but most moviegoers wouldn’t get it. Same with some of the other classics. I can only imagine casual moviegoers being like “that giant one eyed space chicken looks funny” about Gigan. (No offense to Gigan, I love him, hahaaaha)
The GMK theme when Godzilla first appears on screen
I would choose the destroy all monsters theme when the winged muto and 8 legged muto are revealed!
Obviously I'd want Gareth Edwards to make a Godzilla sequel. Plain and simple.
No being lazy and dishonest by reusing Toho monsters. No contrived or recycled plot ideas. A few new enemies for G to face.
The works.
I honestly have no idea why everyone wants Toho monsters in the sequels. Why doesn't anyone want to see what kind of creativity Legendary and WB have on their own?
The old Toho monsters are where they belong: in old Toho movies. They're ALL are outdated and clearly have no place in the real world nor would they fit within the tone or setting this new movie takes place in.
Seriously, everyone needs to give the Toho monster thing a rest. It's not going to happen, and if it does, then Legendary/WB will have proven they have no creativity of their own and that they don't deserve to work on the franchise any longer. If this movie stands well on its own and warrants sequels, they'd better stay away from Toho monsters.
I dunno, I don't see how that movie could be done well. I mean, for the good of Godzilla and future American sequels I would hope that movie DID NOT get made actually. It would degrade so much of the good work Gareth Edwards and Legendary have been trying to do to get Godzilla some respect with general audiences.
I'm not saying I wouldn't want that movie. If they made it, I would TOTALLY watch it. I would just want Toho or somebody like that to do it. That way it would be more par for the course sort of a thing.
Regardless of who made it, I would increasingly hope that they don't chicken out with some wishy washy 'it was a tie' ending. One of the two would need to definitely WIN.
His hands are webbed. These images are the same as the others. Topic closed. Mods close this thanks.
^I don't see how it's remotely plausible though.
In the first screen cap you can see the muto at the top
If you look closely at the trailer, at 22 seconds you can see one of the Mutos in the background.
Lol of COURSE you pick Monster Zero GMan. Then again, my avatar is also in one of my picks so fair's fair I guess.
For the record, I still believe you should watch the films/get more familiar with the franchise before writing an article, but eh, here are my 2 cents all the same.
1. Gojira (1954):
While the special effects are dated, and political messages in the film lack resonance with modern audiences, this was a GREAT movie for its time. And not just a great Godzilla movie, but a great film, period. It was nominated for the Japanese equivalent of an Oscar for Best Picture and it won the Japanese "Oscar" for Special Effects.
The imagery of cities burning (like Tokyo fire-bombing burning...not Transformers explosion burning), crowded hospitals treating peope for radiation poisoning, and other WWII-esque imagery is reported to have made several movie goers cry in the theatre. At a time when making films about Hiroshima and Nagasaki was illegal, Godzilla provided the most powerful political allegory of any film (Godzilla film or otherwise) before or since.
As if that wasn't enough, the original Godzilla spawned a whole new genre of special effects and filmmaking style. It wasn't considered ''cheesy'' by its generation. On the contrary, it was actually something similar to 'The Matrix' or 'Avatar' of its time effects wise.
Admittedly, we are probably too removed from Godzilla's original context for the film to have the same impact. Honestly, when I watched it, I found it kind of boring. But that doesn't mean I can't retroactively appreciate it for what it was.
2. GMK (2001):
This movie is somewhat controversial among G-Fans for how much it changed. But for me, I felt the series had retread the same ground so many times, it was about time somebody tried something fresh. For this movie, they gave Godzilla a new origin story, changed the cinematography, focused the political themes around Japanese youth culture, and even made Ghidorah a good guy.
I personally appreciated Godzilla's return to his status as a villian. This movie was also slightly darker than some of the other films, focusing more on the human suffering and impact of Godzilla's attacks, rather than having it be 100% Transformersesque spectacle destruction.
Objectively, this movie is a little over the top. It definitely isn't grounded. Non-G fans would probably have a hard time taking it seriously. However, for fatigued Godzilla fans who were tired of seeing the same thing over and over again, this movie felt like the swift kick in the ass the Godzilla series needed.
Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla (1974):
Ok, this movie is straight up, cheesy, sci-fi camp. However, as camp goes, it did really change the tone/direction of future Godzilla movies.
As suitmation special effects became increasingly unable to compete with rival effects in film making, Godzilla movies in the mid-late 60's starting to become increasingly marketed to children, rather than adults who less forgiving of the aging effects than kids were. This led to such catastrophes as 'Son of Godzilla' and 'Godzilla's Revenge' among others.
Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla finally returned Godzilla to the realm of young adult/adult films, with monsters spurting blood, people being strangled, and a slightly more serious tone. While Godzilla still played the typical Showa-era 'Earth Defender' role, Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla really layed down the brickwork that the Heisei series would later pick up and run with, making Godzilla movies for an older age group from then on out.
Godzilla vs King Kong (1962):
I might catch some flak for this pick, but hear me out. This movie is probably not as technically good as some of the other movies listed. But it is entertaining and iconic in its own right. Furtheremore, this movie really defined the new direction of Godzilla movies with aplomb.
After the success of the 1954 version, audiences were incredibly disappointed with the shameless cashgrab that was 'Godzilla Raids Again' in 1955. The negative reception of the masterpiece's sequel led Toho to take a mini-break from the character while they decided what direction to go with it.
In 1962, Godzilla vs King Kong, was Toho's answer. Marketed outright as a mega monster brawl, this movie definitively decided to move Godzilla way from its somber and political origins. Owning this fact, helped Godzilla vs King Kong greatly at the box office, as audiences didn't feel misled about what the movie was. This movie succeeded at being exactly what it said it was going to be...a feat few movies can duplicate.
This movie came out when suitmation and miniature effects still held up, and as such, it wasn't actually viewed as cheesy. Sure, the plot was outlandish and simplistic, but the effects were genuinely entertaining at the time. Going to see Godzilla vs King Kong would have been very similar to seeing Transformers or The Amazing Spiderman-2 nowadays, enjoyable spectacle meant to appease the eyes more than the brain.
This movie truly deserves credit for setting up a market for 'Godzilla vs. ...' movies, which Toho would spend the better part of a decade milking to death. Like it or hate it, this movie does deserve credit for defining what Godzilla would become.
And seeing as how you were a good sport and asked for best, in addition to worst, here's take for the top 4 worst Godzilla movies:
1. Godzilla's Revenge:
Over use of stock footage, overly simplistic plot, Minilla, the whole thing winds up being a dream anyway??? Uncool dude...uncool
2. Godzilla vs Megaguirus
Overly weak opponent...very long, dull build up to a very anti-climatic fight. Not much pay off even in the cheesy goodness department.
3. Godzilla Raids Again
Horrendous. Terrible sequel to the 1954 original. Less than 6 months from start of production to release...total cash grab. In the American release they even renamed the monster from Godzilla to Gigantis so audiences didn't associate this crap with Godzilla.
4. Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla
Inconsistent plot, dull fight scenes, the return of Minilla for a pretty stupid plot device, overall, just weaker than the Heisei films before or after.
I think t the key is just to find that large appendage (folded wing) that's usually folded way back. But yeah. I get you.
Some of these were actually hard to figure out, some people still think the MUTO is Mothra too. -.-
Way to go captain obvious.
Webbed hands would make sense, so I really don't know what the problem is. Just like the whole thing with the gills. It's there and it's just fine.
Haha yeah, I realized this moments after posting my original reply. Had alot to do today so was late to the party with the new Japanese trailer. Thanks for posting it up! But as Mikey points out, it is a repeat, so I'm gonna ask that people keep the convo going in the original topic, which has over 50 replies to it so far!
Also, I uploaded just shy of 20 HD screencaps of the new scenes from this trailer to the image gallery for you all to look over and scrutinize as well.
To be honest, the Youtube compression initially had me thinking that he was missing fingers (i.e. after fighting a Muto). Looks like he just has chubby fingers that are somewhat widely spaced apart.
