ghidorah oughta put some meat on his bones
on the topic of synths, what about Cozzilla's theme? The main title actually sounds epic
It would probably sound better as an alien/space theme, buuut who am i to judge
I think the truly baffling thing is they shelled out the rights for Godzilla's theme in not only King of the Monsters, but Ready Player One as well. But not Godzilla vs. Kong?
I'm on the fence over whether or not Ifukube's theme should be in every Godzilla movie, but after Ready Player One, it's a little odd that it wasn't used in GvK.
It's a mobile game from the Chinese company NetEase, and like Tencent's games, it is full of microtransactions. They did a poor job of modeling and animating Godzilla in the game. Even the Chinese player community disliked it.
Here is Holkenborg's history with Godzilla:
“I’m such a Godzilla freak. I have all the Japanese versions of the movies. At a certain point, just for s**ts and giggles, I wrote something for Godzilla. About two years ago, I met the director because he showed interest in me as a composer. I asked him, ‘Do you know I’m the biggest Godzilla fan on the planet, and, years ago, I wrote some stuff.’ He was like, ‘You’re kidding me?’ So we started communicating, I tweaked what I did, played it for him, and he was totally in love.”
I have no idea why they tried to imitate the original theme while they had the rights to it.
It's a massive, all-out monster brawl, yet it lacks the heart of a true Godzilla film. A lot of it just didn't make much sense...
It’s not that he abandoned the OG Theme. It’s that he tried to imitate the chords and randomly placed them.
Destroy All Monsters is my favourite, so I'll choose "Revival".
Every film of the Monsterverse have wildly different scores. GvK's is probably the weakest, but it's not too bad on it's own. I don't understand, though, why Holkenborg abandoned the classic theme. Maybe he thinks he's innovative, I don't know.
My deepest apologies to Roland, Dean and all of Tristar. I really wanted to see Godzilla and was upset it was not the Lizard I knew but at least she was a big Lizard. Now days it's a new Godzilla every year and none of them are the one from 54. Godzilla 98 murderlizes shin and makes singular point look like crap. Didn't think Japan would ever shit the bed but without the core crew they just hire a new batch of no-Godzilla fans who knows not what to do. It's all money but they are making a living doing it and own the rights. I love the series and personally volunteer to direct sequels where she would be granted invincibility. To bad Godzilla 98 and Final wars Godzilla did not team up but I was part of the problem acting like a immature deviant that showed no appreciation for the sweet art or love for this beautiful God Iguana. Such a pity. The past cannot change, the future is in motion.
I don’t think that the problem was that it didn’t have the original theme, but it tried to cheaply imitate it. The synth isn’t the problem either, for example, even though many don’t like the Godzilla Anime, it has an absolutely amazing score, made with a synth.
I know it was probably a matter of cost, but a Godzilla film without the traditional Ifukube theme really takes something away. Imagine a James Bond film without the theme; there's something missing. Junkie's score ended up sounding like one of those 1990 bargain bin video games that were based on a franchise, but couldn't pay for the rights to use the actual franchise music, so they imitated it with a synth.
The soundtrack isn’t the worst, but isn’t the best. I prefer it to the american music they added to the Later Showa americanized versions and the J pop that was in the Godzilla anime.
Many people liked the score, I’m a music nerd, who didn’t. This score is ok. It does have emotion, I’m not a fan of this style in this movie. This style worked great for the Godzilla Anime Trilogy, but Not so much for GvK in my opinion.
This is my most unpopular opinion yet, I know.
"In my rewrite I explicitly stated that both Simmons would be expanded so it's cool."
Thank you!
That's all. In my rewrite I explicitly stated that both Simmons would be expanded so it's cool.
Kattozilla, I'm sorry to say this but to me it was relatable as Godzilla atomic nostrils.
Monster_Zero, That's because you like Eiza Gonzalez lol
Nah, I'd keep Maia Simmons.
I just figured out how to approach the march motif! Now I can stop freaking out about it
how dare you tapwater was my favorite character
for real i actually kinda like josh's character, i relate to him on a personal level
NOT JOSH AND BERNIE
Yeah, I know you do, I'm merely pointing out that there really was no revival from the point of view of Toho or the audience. King Kong vs. Godzilla just stacked on top of the other sci-fi/fantasy movies. After which Toho realized they might have a franchise on their hands and decided to cross Godzilla with another one of their successful creations.
Rewinding a bit,
SarcasticGoji,
GvK has not yet been released in Japan.
I'd redo it. And keep some characters in it.
Well frick I will now accept my defeat.
YOU WIN SG
Nah, clover only stomas, scarlet godzilla can shoot atomic breath into space
Too much Clovers overrun him wave after wave
Scarlet Godzilla, (burning earth goji)
Unless....FULL GROWN CLOVER MONSTERS GO
I only liked it for the battle scenes.
Dang. I lost my rickroll revenge.
Godzilla earth survived 150 nukes when he was 150 feet and also blew up a moon sized object. So at six times the power and size, Godzilla earth wins
Plus Destroyah
All nuclear godzillas go!
