@ Godzillatheking123- Correct, which is why i specified vultures and condors, as gliding on thermals is their primary mode of transportation. The animals you listed are active predators. they need to tuck their wings and dive so they can gain enough speed to catch and kill their prey (perhaps another parallel with the muto). Falcons are the greatest example. Peregrine falcons can dive bomb their prey at speeds reach 180 miles per hour. So maybe the Muto is a combination of both, gliding for perios of time but employing a dive like meneuver when attaking and moving in confined spaces (like say, between buildings).
Chills....
@ratedrex: Nothing about that trailer gave me a sense of cheesiness! In my opinion of course. The casino going dark scene was crazy. I will love every second of this movie and will be seeing it multiple times in the theatre.
Thanks for posting the trailer on here.
Jason
Whoever does the roar can you please post it?
I noticed, it is a Muto.
Someone, please - FIND THIS EPIC MUSIC FROM THAT EPIC TRAILER!)
From what you said, I respect you opinion and want this movie to be a critical success. I was too outraged when a movie I was anticipating on 2012 (Inception btw). It got critical acclaim, but got 1 out of 5 stars rating give by some journalist on my country.
But as badass as this movie can be, it won't be perfect. Unlike me, you and most of the people on these forums grew up with Godzilla, and it is perfectly understandable that you want this movie to succeed (I do as well), but not all people, being bad or good reviewers have that special connection to Godzilla as you do, and that kind of cynical critique is essencial since it shows their point of view, as someone who is indiferent and may even dislike the concept, going against the "hype-media" nowadays (e.g. IGN), that make bad journalism, ranting the media they promoted themselves (with those behind the scenes exclusives and "Why you should be hyped for..." articles).
So, be ready to have haters ranting the movie (I would bet my ass that many will compare it to Pacific Rim (which I profundely dislike)), but respect their opinion as much as the one of someone who loved it, as they indirectly help the movie industry to remain as fair as possible.
(PS: Although that does not mean I don't get abit annoyed everytime I remember that Gravity won almost all the oscars except Best film, loosing it to 12 years a slave because 12 years a slave is an historic movie and Gravity was just the year's popular choice to keep people interested on the oscars. Shame on you academy.)
This is awesome! The BEST GODZILLA TRAILER I've ever seen! Makes the 2014 American Godzilla look (and feel) so dangerous and intimidating that I don't think even the Final Wars Gojira (if he watched it) would want a fight vs this Godzilla (course, tell that to the Winged Muto flying towards it).
A.....mazing. Either they are extremely skilled trailer makers....or this is going to be one of the best Sci-Fi movies of all time.
This was a incredible trailer, I wish my mom was here to see it, she passed last year fighting cancer, she introduced me to Godzilla in the 70's as a kid. One of the best things you could have done mom. I saw Gareth Edwards talking about the roar and if you missed it, in the background was the model of a Muto. I don't know if it was meant to be seen but here is a pic.

AWESOME! The feet could've been better but, that's nitpicking right there but, GODZILLA 2014, F**K YEAH! GONNA PLEASE MOTHERF***ING G-FANS!
I think there was only 1 trailer/spot so far where you see the walking MUTO in the background of destroyed Las Vegas, all others (the new Asian trailer included) have the old scene without MUTO walking...
Omg this is amazing... Can anyone pls make this shot a bit brighter, my screen has a problem and turns black into red, so if anyone could make it brighter i would really, really appreciate it :)))
No MUTO in the Las Vegas shot, though in the Asian trailer... Interesting.
Wait isn't godzilla 150 meters tall, which is like 492 feet?
I think it will mostly glide, but we've seen it flapping on the MUTO1 monitor so it probably doesn't have some sort of alternate propulsion.
^true it could be able to jump start into the air with its legs.
The buildng in the picture above is the Four Embarcadero Center.. @ 55 Clay St in San Fran Business District. Here is something to talk about.. that building.. is 571 feet tall.. hmmmm G looks pretty big for "350 ft'.. right?
That is incredible. It left me shaking. Did you guys notice at the end the Muto was flying, he was flying at Godzilla.
NOW THIS.. is a great trailer. And who cares if there are some movie goers out there who look at this movie and laugh... it only shows them that they are not fans of monster movies. besides.. there are more of us than there are of them. This movie is gonna be bad ***. AND did anyone notice the simalarity of the fight scene in this trailer and the one in G vs Megaguirus?
Tarrelzilla, I think it'll show up in Las Vegas fairly early, but then it has to stomp across the Sierra Nevada if the fight takes place in San Francisco. I think the scene in the bar when the power goes out will be the 8 legged one but I'm not sure, they're definitely keeping that one more of a surprise though.
'scuse me folks, while I go change my shorts....
I question that this trailer raised for me is, where is the 8 legged MUTO? We've been seeing a lot of the winged monster but the 8 legged one still seems like a mystery. I wonder if that's the big surprise monster at the end or something.
But yeah, a beautiful trailer!
There's always that line that fimmakers/studios have to straddle - Fans want to see something ASAP, but the problem is the effects work is nowhere near completed. They release teasers/trailers and fans bitch about the less than stellar effects! Yes it's very possible the CGI is slightly better, because they're still working on them, and with a little over two weeks to go probably still are. They'll tweak what they can with whatever time they have left. I can't wait to see this!
The old shot of the Muto leg smashing down has a giant JANJIRA logo in the background, was that there before?
Gojira19, I think I've changed my mind on the flying Muto growing in size, it does have enormous wings but the body is still quite small.
I just want his backplates to light up when he uses it. :P
Holy Mother of Godzilla! That was the best trailer ever! I...I need to lie down and watch this again.
Is it possible to have monsters fight in a serious, realistic movie? It didn't work in 'Predator vs Alien", "Frankenstein vs Dracula", "Pacific Rim", "King Kong vs. Godzilla", or Godzilla vs any monster. It always turns into cheesiness. Godzilla fans will love to see a fight, to the death, between Godzilla and the MUTOs, but I fear that the general public might laugh at it. Lets hope that Gaerth Edwards knows what he is doing. So far it looks like he does. We should know by the end of this week when the reviews start coming out.
@ Guyvantic Gojira (54) in no way signified the end of stop-motion animation. Google Ray Harryhausen's work and you'll see some of the best the medium had to offer came after Gojira. In regards to suitimation at Toho, if the bit of news that the pool at the studio was demolished is true, then I believe it to be well and truly over. They used a completely CG Godzilla in Always 2 probably as a proof of concept and the results were pretty good.
I think the Japanese trailer looks better than the others. But I don't really see the difference between the US ones and the latest asia one.
This looks awful. ... ly AMAZING!
oooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh mmmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood that was amazing!

@bykowsky
I know what you're saying, but when the shot gets to the head he pumps his chest up and changes the angle of the top portion of his body, so to make it not look weird i had to flipped the body.
it just looks weird this way
but i can just flip the whole image horizontal like this if you want:
DAAAAMN that's a nice shot! Great Work!
Godzilla be all like:

Gareth Edwards idea on having the scenes appear as if the camera was in a place it could be, instead of crazy cgi angles, makes the entire thing look so much better. Gareth Edwards is an amazing director.
looks like the head part done in wrong way. Try to flip it horizontal. And flip horizontal whole pic.
