(Unpopular Opinion) Godzilla: King of the Monsters is a good movie.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this movie a solid 7.
Now, for my consensus:
Godzilla: King of the Monsters doesn't match the greatness of Kong: Skull Island, but that doesn't mean it's bad. The story (while mediocre) is ambitious, the family drama element is a great touch, the visual effects and cinematography are stunning, and the cast gives mostly solid performances in badly written characters, with Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things, Enola Holmes) standing out as probably the only star to get an actually good human character in the film. Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah get great designs, and some good (but reptitive) fights.
But now, I need to go deeper into this movie. So here we go....
First, I should point out what drags this movie down. What exactly drags the movie down is too. many. human. characters. If they chopped half of the supporting cast off, then it would work. But a lot of the supporting characters say basically only a few things and they aren't needed. Most of the main characters and main supporting characters either stand gawking at the titular monsters or pulling off really stupid decisions. The only human character that amounts to anything is Millie Bobby Brown's Madison Russell but we'll get to her. Another thing is that even though the fights are cool, but are repetitive as it's the same thing. Over and over and over again. And the third act drags. I'm not kidding. And Mothra x Godzilla is weird. Also, Emma Russell (Vera Farmiga) is the worst human character in a Godzilla movie. Ever.
Next, the good things. So Madison Russell is the only good human character in this movie and actually makes better decisions than everyone else because of course. Then the CGI and cinematography is captial A-Amazing and the titan noises (besides Ghidorah) are well-crafted. Even though the third act drags, it's a cool battle and it shows the power of visual effects. And the story while mediocre is ambitious and the family drama element is solid. And it also does a great job of setting up Godzilla Vs. Kong.
But anyways, this movie gets a lot of things right. and a lot of things wrong. But hopefully Godzilla Vs. Kong is the massive hit WB needs and this cinematic universe will continue.
But yeah overall, I think Godzilla: KotM is a good movie.
And now I'm never going to watch it ever again because it got worse the 2nd time I watched it.
