Asteroid ground zero

I’ve been hearing a lot that legendarys Godzilla tanked a meteor point blank in a similar fashion to the Japanese final wars incarnation but after reading and rereading the Godzilla awakening comic I’m a little confused as to whether or not the meteor simply hit in the general vicinity of where he was standing or if it collided with him dead on. The idea of him being pounded with a giant space rock and coming off without a scratch seems a bit too over the top for the kind of beleiveability the monsterverse seems to want to provide to us
