What would Ghidorah look like?

2.This other fan art design

MemberTitanosaurusAug-11-2017 2:27 PMMy goodness, I've never even thought of that, BUT I NEED THIS NOW!
That would be an AWESOME way to amp up King Ghidorah as a threat. Have him not only be powerful, but adaptable too!

The Jurassic Bootleg
MemberBaragonAug-11-2017 3:08 PMI personally I think each head should be unique, like have the middle head shoot out lightning bolts and have the other 2 shoot out fire and ice. I personally think it would be perfect!
Godzilla Generations was a beautiful game! I loved the fact that there's a laser cannon inside of Dr. Serizawa's eyepatch.

TrapZilla
MemberMothra LarvaeAug-11-2017 8:06 PMI'd be fine with blue or red lightning that'd be pretty sick to me
All right all right all right

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-11-2017 8:28 PMI imagine we will get something close to this, with longer necks. I like the idea of arm like appendages on the wings as long as he doesn't start walking on them

MemberBaragonAug-11-2017 9:04 PMThat looks cool but I like this one better because reason.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-11-2017 11:12 PMBoth of those are sick! I hated the armed wings at first, but they just make sense to have and makes this Ghidorah more original. I hope he uses them as a battering ram on big G
All right all right all right

AdminGodzillaAug-11-2017 11:14 PMI'm still waiting on a fan design that doesn't look like garbage. Surely it can't be this hard to update King Ghidorah's already iconic look...

TrapZilla
MemberMothra LarvaeAug-12-2017 12:10 AMI'm fine with the classic look as long as his necks and tails are extremely powerful. Each one being like a giant Python. I'd be fine with seeing a scene like in the 90's version. Hell, Ghidorah could even throw big G with them.
But I still think this would be an epic modern update.
I imagine in a scene in which he would fully extend his wings as an intimidation factor. That would be freakin epic.
All right all right all right

MemberTitanosaurusAug-12-2017 4:20 AMYou know, if King Ghidorah retains his origins as an alien organism (which, going by this Tweet from Mike Dougherty, looks probable!), I'd say more than one pair of eyes per head might be cool.
Nothing too outlandish, maybe a second pair of eyes, just to sell the point that, yeah, this thing is an ALIEN.

The Jurassic Bootleg
MemberBaragonAug-12-2017 6:13 AMI honestly don't care what KG's origin anymore, Legendary could do whatever the heck they want with his orgin.
Earth Monster? Ok cool.
Space Monster? Whatever makes the fans happy.
Honestly tho, I'm more worried about KG's screen time and his build up. I want KG to be a memorable villain, I wan't him to be ruthless and finally I wan't KG to have a villainous music that plays whatever his on screen(Similar to Vulture where his theme plays whatever his on screen).
Godzilla Generations was a beautiful game! I loved the fact that there's a laser cannon inside of Dr. Serizawa's eyepatch.

AdminGodzillaAug-12-2017 1:09 PMTrapZilla,
King Ghidorah has thrown Godzilla with all three of his heads before--In Godzilla vs. Gigan. I still think the wing walker image looks dumb. If King Ghidorah uses appendages more than his heads to do... well... anything with, then it's a severe misuse of an otherwise iconic design.
TherizinoRex,
King Ghidorah has always had powerful theme music. Ifukube's booming theme played whenever King Ghidorah appeared in the first five films (not TV show) he showed up in. I hope he gets a solid theme in the new movie as well, but given the MonsterVerse's track record for forgettable music so far, I highly doubt it will be anything as powerful or memorable as Ifukube's theme.

MemberBaragonAug-12-2017 1:37 PM^
Forgettable? Eeeehhhhhhhhhh I disagree.
Godzilla Generations was a beautiful game! I loved the fact that there's a laser cannon inside of Dr. Serizawa's eyepatch.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaAug-12-2017 1:51 PMDesplat's main theme for Godzilla '14 was okay, but nothing special. The motif for the MUTOs and Monarch is hardly recognizable. Not that it matters since he isn't likely to return and as a result the next movie will get all new themes.
Meanwhile, I can't recall a single theme from Harry Gregson-Williams' Skull Island score--And I'm a fan of his. Nothing stands out or can be easily whistled.
In other news, Michael Dougherty just posted this on his Twitter. Seems like he's certainly hinting at something and I hope this is the route he's taking with King Ghidorah: Massive ‘anomaly’ lurks beneath ice in Antarctica.

Eeeehhhhhhh no, I don't think so but I do think this tweet could be hinting something.
Godzilla Generations was a beautiful game! I loved the fact that there's a laser cannon inside of Dr. Serizawa's eyepatch.

TheGMan123
MemberTitanosaurusAug-12-2017 2:12 PMBoth clearly go together.
Freaky multi-headed organism comes from space on an asteroid that ends the Permian era, ends up frozen in the Antarctic. Might've woken up to tussle with Godzilla, only to end up frozen again somehow.
You know, I wonder how King Ghidorah will look frozen, and how AMAZING his emergence from the ice will be in the final film. I'm not sure which would be more likely, though. A popsicle kind of deal where he looks like he's gone through rigor mortis, or a solid clear chunk of ice.

AdminGodzillaAug-12-2017 2:29 PMTherizinoRex,
I think they're both hinting at something. Saying one does hint at something and the other does not by giving a poorly thought "ehhh" as your reasoning is pretty lacking. Such a thought process completely ignores the fact that Antarctica has already been confirmed as King Ghidorah's location. It also ignores the fact that asteroids come from space and that the other tweet you mentioned has ties to outer space. And, yet again, it ignores the fact that King Ghidorah has traveled via asteroids before. If anything, this is a perfect set up for the character. If not, why else would the director post it and then tag Monarch Sciences to it? Your (lack of) reasoning is baffling.

MemberBaragonAug-12-2017 4:11 PMAlright you guys win, I'll just sit here and hope KG would have a villainous theme.

Godzilla... Truly a God incarnate.

The King of the Monsters
MemberBaragonAug-12-2017 7:00 PMIn regards to the music of the MonsterVerse, I've personally found Jackman's main motif for Kong: Skull Island (which is heard most prominently in the track "Project Monarch" from the opening title sequence and "The Island" from the scene where they finally pierce through the storm cell) to be pretty memorable. I think the score as a whole works very well for the film, but I wouldn't call the rest of it particularly memorable.

AdminGodzillaAug-13-2017 9:19 AM^I think it's good music and works for the scene, but I wouldn't call it memorable.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaAug-13-2017 10:47 AMSeeing as we are on the subject of music and King Ghidorah it might be worthwhile to look back on prior King Ghidorah themes and ask ourselves what we want out of it. Honestly, I'm not expecting anything as good as what we got in the past:
1) King Ghidorah's Theme from Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster (1964) - Akira Ifukube
2) King Ghidorah's Theme from Monster Zero (1965) - Akira Ifukube
3) King Ghidorah's Theme (w/Godzilla & Rodan's Themes) from Destroy All Monsters (1968) - Akira Ifukube
4) King Ghidorah's Theme from Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991) - Akira Ifukube
5) King Ghidorah's Theme (w/Opening) from Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II (1993) - Akira Ifukube
6) King Ghidorah's Theme from Rebirth of Mothra 3 (1998) - Toshiyuki Watanabe
7) King Ghidorah's Theme (w/Godzilla's Theme) from Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (2001) - Koh Otani
Obviously Ifukube used his same theme for almost 30 years with slightly different variation--It's definitely the most recognizable and iconic. Quite frankly his theme is the King Ghidorah Theme.
But I quite like both Watanbe's and Otani's takes as well. Both fit the King Ghidorahs in those respective films and were used quite liberally in both.
It goes without saying, but whoever is scoring Godzilla 2 has a lot to live up to...

MemberBaragonAug-13-2017 10:52 AM^
well who do you think should score Goji 2?

AdminGodzillaAug-13-2017 11:02 AMNot entirely sure, but I'd stay away from Desplat and Gregson-Williams. They seem to understand the sound, but can't weave memorable melodies to them.
I used to want Michael Giacchino to do it, but he's been very hit or miss lately. Neither his Dr. Strange or Spider-Man scores were up to par with his previous stuff and I wasn't really feeling his Apes score either. The last score of his I loved was Star Trek Beyond. But based on what he did for Cloverfield, I'd like him to have a crack at it--Though he's so popular and in-demand these days that he's probably too expensive for Legendary.
Theme-wise I'd love to hear what Brian Tyler might come up with. If given the freedom he'd probably do something fairly memorable with great percussion and use his motifs a whole lot, ala, Ifukube.
What will probably end up happening is we'll get one of Zimmer's many proteges. I enjoy Zimmer and most of his clones, but I don't think they fit the genre.

MemberBaragonAug-13-2017 11:12 AMI wonder if Doughtry will for the classical bipedal approach or a quadrupedal wyvern approach for Ghidorah. I personally would like to see the bipedal design, but I really dislike Ghidorah's classical legs. They are just too obese and fake looking in my taste. I would prefer to see some more muscular and slender legs for the King of Monsters Ghidorah design.

TheGMan123
MemberTitanosaurusAug-13-2017 12:35 PMI don't know, chubby stubby feet kind of makes sense for such a massive creature. This universe's Godzilla has them, and whilst some people didn't take to them, they do go along with the overall look.
If King Ghidorah maintains the same massive kind of bulkiness that Godzilla has in the MonsterVerse, then tree-trunk legs would probably be the most plausible option.

The Jurassic Bootleg
MemberBaragonAug-13-2017 4:26 PM@WillNotBeNamed
They're probably going to slimmed down the legs.

riggzamortis86
MemberTitanosaurusAug-14-2017 9:48 AMI'm sure they will beef those legs up. We don't know but maybe Ghidorah will be soo much bigger than Godzilla, but if Ghidorah is an alien(and so far evidence is supporting that from the director) maybe Ghidorahs physical capabilities are lost on Earth bound physics. Maybe he does have slim legs. That would set him more apart from his Earthling Foes.
YOU.....DUMBBELL!
