Is Godzilla 2014 a half Godzilla half zilla?

I don't know what to say but when I saw Godzilla 2014 movie, He looks like half 1998 zilla half Japanese Godzilla. Because his mouth and his cheek looks like the 1998 zilla and his Body and spikes is an Japanese verion.

This is what I thought at first too. But no this godzilla is loosely based on the japanese design.

I dont see it. He looks like a TOHO suit in CGI form too me.

Well I noticed a lot of similarities in the scenes from both movies, but Zilla's head seems too narrow. The only thing I can relate is the nose.

VICZILLA - To be honest, I really didn't see much of a smiliarity. Edwards' Godzilla and 'Zilla share little, if any, common aspects in my opinion. Then again, it's quite possible that I'm not looking at the design in the right light; he very well could pass for 'Zilla's older (stronger, better looking, smarter) brother! :)
