The M.U.T.O from the 1950s

The MUTO from the comic and the ones from the movie have nothing in common other than being Massive Terrestrial Unidentified Organisms.

Also there's some inconsistencies between the comic and the movie. I wouldn't take anything you read in it too seriously.

i have to agree wtih duratok, the muto's in the film were something else and the swarm of death thing in the graphic novel might be reborn in the sequal i guess. :)

@bigbadben it could be... so that must mean that swarm of death is sleeping under the ocean as well and is awakened?

We don't know if it's sleeping under the ocean. From what we can tell it's dead.

only time will tell, plus legendary will do what they did the last time, and that is tease the crap out of us all. XD

But all we can do right now is guess about the sequal. :)

And spoiler alert

at the end of the official novelization it says nature was at peace.

So in the sequal i can only assume right now that something upsets nature again and godzilla must return to answer the call. :)

i think the return of the shinomura would be awesome. it looks so menacing and looks like a formidable foe to gojira. and a return of mothra siding with godzilla??!! idk man. these next 4 years are gonna be long!!!

true very true, lets hope that the sequal is as good or even better than this one. :)

There's some things that just don't make sense about the comic, like showing there are civilizations 250 MILLION years ago, or that the asteroid responsible for the extinction event happened BEFORE the dinosaurs came into being.

In terms of inconsistencies between the comic and the movie, the biggest would be the matter of Dr. Serizawa's father. I don't even know where to begin, honestly.

-In the movie it is heavily implied that Serizawa's father died during the bombing of Hiroshima.

-In the comics he and his infant son not only miraculously survive the impact of a direct nuke hit, they didn't die of exposure either.

-In the movie the first contact with Godzilla was the Nautilus submarine exploring deep within the ocean. In the comic, they were actively looking for Godzilla at that moment. He had been spotted previously attacking Shinomura.

Unfortunately this is just from memory, I don't have access to the comic right now. I wouldn't be surprised if there were at least 5 more examples of shinnanigans.

I really don't want to see Shinomura in a movie. I'd love a few more large land beasties for Godzilla to tangle with.

well duratok who knows, i mean maybe in the sequal humankind will upset nature so much that it calls on godzilla to raid the city. :)

and also, i believe that multi legged vishnu thing appeared in the comic as a dead creature that the shinomura was feeding on millions of years ago...

the muto cells were completely destroyed because godzilla's atomic breath is the only thing that destroys muto cells so yeah not seeing any future mutos there
