CEM - I'd have to say the female MUTO would be the victor of an encounter between the two. Take a look at how Clover moves throughout the movie - she's awkward and uncoordinated most of the time. Occasionally she evidences agility, but its mostly when she's fleeing the military. On the other hand, the female MUTO is nimble, powerful, and extremely quick when she needs to be - capable of powering forward with exceptional speed. Her claws and robust form would certainly allow her to deal with Clover. Of course, there's no doubt in my mind that Clover would do some damage to the female MUTO - she had claws and teeth to spare! I am, however, saying that Clover would very likely be defeated by the female MUTO in a very brutal manner - likely by hooked claw to the skull, chest, and abdomen. :)

That clover in the movie is a baby, so female muto will win. But adult Clover would be a beast.

Probably true, although we know nothing of the adults.  Have to agree w/SR--Clover was more scared and frightened than anything else, can't imagine it doing well against a creature that had some tactical intelligence...although we forget that these things only hatched during their movie too, right? MUTO seems a bit smarter too.

And makes me realize, don't we see by the end of the fight that GZ is appreciably smarter than the MUTO?  Notice he adapts, but they do not...he even uses the male's one tactic against him...you can almost see on GZ's face, "Ohh, you're sneaking up behind me again? Great...just keep flying...<<SWAT-Smoosh>> thanks!  Um, windshield fluid anyone?"

MIFFERNATOR@ JJ Abrams said the monster is a baby cause he is lost but he also said it is thousands of years in the ocean , so it is full grown.

I'd have to say FemMuto (Female Muto). She has more legs, she is remoresless, and She eats Nuclear Warheads for breakfast. Plus, since Clover is just a baby, I don't think it can really have a plan or make one during combat. Personally, I love both Mutos. I think that is they attack humans, we would be in a lot of trouble. We humans tend to be too reliant on our technology. But back to the point, I think FemMuto would win, especially if she called in HokMuto (Male Muto) for back up.

CEM, yes thousands of years old, but not full grown: dormant. Adults were vaguely hinted (never confirmed) at as bipedal and larger.

Hard to say how indestructible the MUTO really were.  We didn't hit them with anything close to our best stuff--I'm not talking about nukes either.  If Godzilla could impale one with building material...

The comments made in the film about the force of the blast from MT nukes was valid...and if you notice we never got to see that.

you guys are right , i did some research and clover is indeed a baby , Matt Reeves said it. but I think the Mother isnt that much bigger like male muto is a bit smaller than female muto.

hmm, interesting.  It was noted when JJ made CF that he was very mindful of Godzilla, wanted to make something distincty American but not King Kong.  He did it well, and of course made it freakin' scary too...

I have little doubt the CFM influenced the MUTO look (I suppose Edwards could dispel that but I'm sticking to it), esp. the female leg structure and how she walks (there are clearly other influences too)...Edwards is junior to JJ, probably looks up to him, and wanted to give a nod to CF...like he did the older GZ movies as well.

The Muto no doubt. Whenever someone asks this question, i always weigh against Cloverfield because he is not meant to fight. While the beasts of Gareth Edward's Godzilla weere meant to be anamilistic, Cloverfiled was meant to outright be an animal. A creature built to be adapted to its habitat, who finds itself outside its native habitat and attacked by strange little creatures.

The Muto on the other hand has to be able to fight because she, unlike Cloverfield, isn't at the top of the food chain in her enviornment. She thus needs the build, weaponry,m and knowledge to fight in order to defend herself and her brood from predators (namely Godzilla). Compare how the two respond. The Muto attacks with crushing force, detirmined to stamp out that which thretens her. Cloverfield, on the other hand, has no idea what to do, killing it's attackers by lashing out in fear.

Two very different creatures designed for very different purposes.

TBH, I see the MUTO taking this.

It's higher intelligence, great agility and incredible strength just make it a powerhouse.
