MemberMothra LarvaeMay-17-2014 1:12 PMJust wondering if anyone else noticed the over all basic story being similar to that of Gamera Guardian of the Universe? Both Godzilla and Gamera playing the role of an anti hero who's lone mission is to kill the MUTO/Gayos to more or less protect Earth with out concern either way for its human inhabitants

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-17-2014 1:34 PMI see where your coming from I do but I would say while gamera was there to protect all life from the gayos who are meant to bring death to all know life, godzilla was just there to take out the MUTOs who were going to reprouduce and killing all know life would just be a side effect of the whole thing. Proabaly looking to deep in this but feel free to agree or disagree.

AdminGodzillaMay-17-2014 1:46 PMAnd the interesting thing about Gamera Guardian of the Universe's storyline is that it seems to take some ideas from Tristar/Sony's original Godzilla script that was to be directed by Jan de Bont.
The Gryphon had a lot of scenes in the script that were similar to the Gyaos in Guardian of the Universe. And the MUTOs have a similar parasitic storyline to the Gyaos. I think Gamera Guardian of the Universe handles its characters a little better than the new Godzilla, though.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-17-2014 5:26 PMI saw Godzilla today and I did pick up some similarities to not only Guardian of the Universe but its follow-up the Advent of Legion as well. The Mutos head and bat-like appearance of the flying muto reminded me a lot of Gyaos. And the way that the mutos went after anything with radiation reminded me of how the Legion creatures went after anything with glass properties.
