his screen-time isn't THAT small... and the movie is fantastic/ epic/ awesome. some scenes we know from the trailers/teasers aren't in the movie. I had to sign anything and it's not allowed to me to post a full review til may, 11th... I have seen it twice now. Todays screening was in Hamburg/ Germany 10am. The CGI is awesome and "polished" now. I'll answer some questions later today on this page: https://www.facebook.com/godzillaBook

Gareth did it the right way!

TIMOROSE - I'm extremely glad to hear that Godzilla's screen-time isn't too short! Then again, I've a strong feeling the film will be quite good regardless! :)

@SOMETHING REAL: yes... it's not too short...not too long...(maybe 20 mins screen time)  and we see him first (his "fins") in the opening credits... btw: great opening credit scene ! first 30-45 mins is character developement...but then...you see the other monsters 'nor you see him...or both ...

Ok.  Rule numer 5:

Never trust a pre screener's review.  Rarely will they admit it if a movie sucks, because they don't want people to think that they wasted their money or their time.  Also, a pre screener see's himself as special.  He has seen what you wish you had seen.  So, he feels priveledged.  He is in control, you must listen to him.  He can't wait to share his special experience.

Fanboys and fangirls are the worst.  Using words like "fantastic", "awesome" and "epic" sounds like this guy is about 20.  Check out IMDB's early ratings for "Transformer 4". They will go through the roof.  But after a few weeks the ratings will come tumbling down.

@RATEDREX: ...about 20? ...hmm, don't think so... first: i'm NOT a fanboy or something and i'm a filmmaker /author...so i know what i'm talking about. but hey, right, i'm using the words "epic", "awesome" and so on and so on... and? fxxk imdb ratings...

So how is the fight scene ?...Is it brutal and aggressive as we fans imagine it to be ?

the fights are "nice" but not THAT brutal...but very good. the final battle between godzilla and the female monster is a lil' more violent. and aggressiv? yes!

cmon give us your honest opinion. I know there has to be atleast ONE thing that was off for you, even if it was small, some nuances. If you are uncomfortable talking about it before review embargo I'll understand, but so far I've only seen 2 honest reviews out of the dozens that atleast shows Pro's and cons.

@JUNKERDE - i like it lots. of course there are pro's and con's - i very like the opening credit sequence, the soundtrack in combination with the pictures, the lil' insider gags (king of the monsters / ending of the movie - you'll know what I mean when u see it), the cgi and so on... lizzie olsen got not enough screen time... and it feels like they cut out some stuff sometimes (I can't explain)...i do like the atomic breath, but it's too "thin" somehow... there are two monster-fights (airport) and one is later in the movie...they r too short... they did it the old marvel way (marvel comics)...the fight starts and they jump to another scene... but as I said, I really enjoyed the movie and I love it. one of my new fav's

was there any easter eggs?

the "thin" atomic breath does sound like it will look like the smash game. I'll have to wait and see the movie to find out why it's considered to be so powerful/violent.

@CHRISZILLA5: there are easter eggs. you can see the name "mothra" on a terrarium, "king of the monsters" (you'll know what I mean when you see it, etc...

@NPINKHAM19: yes, you right.but when he use it (for the first time in the movie )it is a great moment!

@timorose:

Sorry if I offened you.  but let me explain:

We who are in marketing rely on the pre screener to help promote the movie.  rarely will a pre screener give a negative review, even if the movie sucked.  Who wants to be the bearer of bad news.  There is no fun in that.  We expect the pre screener to use phases like, "it was so f--king awesome man", "best picture of the year, so far",  "it live up to all my expectations".  No one want to hear, "it was so boring", "don't waste your money like I did",  "I was very disappointed", "worst movie ever".  However two after the movie premiers the reviews often take on an entirely different tone, something like:  "that was so overrated",  "what were the critics thinking about", "two hours of my life that I can't get back",  "wait until I see that so-called friend of mine".  You know what I'm talking about because we all have been there.

I'm sure you enjoyed the movie.  You have no reason to say otherwise.  But haven't you enjoyed the attention just a little bit?

Hopefully, in two weeks we all are giving rave reviews.

Oops, I should have proof-read my post before I hit reply.

That sentence should be:  However, two weeks after the movie premiers....

@timorose

you lucky dog. :)

I'll be going to the midnight show on the 15th, then on the 16th i am going with the family. :)

though i appreciate you saying gareth did it right that should keep the negative people out there calmed down now.

Also you really shouldn't say much more about it, i'll trust your words on it, but i would like for this movie to be a memoriable movie to watch in person.

Thanks for the heads up on everything you have mentioned, and i look foward to seeing this bad boy movie. ;)

Also is it really all that terrifying like they said it would be? Because i don't want my 6 year old nephew to have nightmares, i mean he has watched all 28 previous godzilla films but he is like his uncle here still excited about seeing it.

@RATEDREX: of course I know what you mean. and that's part of the game. but it was strange today. I've never seen so many press-people in a press-screening. normally there are between 25-40 people...today close to 100 ! I would say 90% loved it... I've never seen press giving applause etc... it felt like a screening for "fans", but it wasn't...it was a normal press screening. And I have to say that the movie is much much better than I thought. And of course there are some dialogues i don't like because they are bad...but hey...it's a really good movie. the editing is great and the sound-design is overwhelming...CGI is polished and the story is "ok". it's a monster-movie and I got more than I thought I would get. If I would speak as a fan I would say "this is the ultimate G-movie." But as a critic I can not do that (even if I'm still a fan :p ) But somehow it is! You know, I like indie movies, Blockbusters , Arthouse etc...i'm a collector too (movies and figures etc)... and I really have to say that this is a great (awesome :p) movie. It's entertaining and it's "Godzilla", or "Gojira" as Watanabe says... nahm fuck that, i'm a fanboy and a critic :D

@BIGBADBEN: you r welcome...thanks...

you know, for some it is def scary... I don't know if you should go there with your 6 years old nephew. I wouldn't go with my 6 year old nephew. It's a "dark" movie  ...people are dying etc... it's not a bloody movie, BUT... I wouldn't go with my nephew...

@timorose

Thanks man, but like i said he has watched the original 1954 gojira film and even though it is a black and white film, he stilled handled it really well. :)

As far as there not being blood that is ok, i still think he will handle it really well he knows none of it is real. :)

When i go to the midnight show i will see just how bad it is and if it is that bad, i guess i'll cover his eyes so that it won't freighten him that bad, but still he also did manage to handle the hobbit desolation of smaug movie in 3-d really well, in my honest opinion i think he will be fine. :)

I love this community you give a very positive review and people call you out for ignoring small problems when I guarantee had you pointed out all the problems you had some1 would call you out for nitpicking.

Anyway it's good to see another positive review, so far no review has come out that I know of that just says the movie is horrible, so far it's all been good to average.
