MemberTitanosaurusApr-10-2014 5:31 AMSounds interesting. Different from what I expected. I expected something more insect like. We'll probably hear Muto better in the movie.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-10-2014 5:53 AMI'm sure the MUTOS will be able to vocalize some beautiful noises whether it be individual or in unison together. I can't wait to see how they interact with eachother. I think what we hear is more of a general noise it makes, not so much a roar. I just advertised it as a roar.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-10-2014 6:30 AMWhen I listen to this, I get the impression that the MUTO is "casually strolling" through an area with people nearby, or another MUTO, and it turns and makes this noise at whatever it is that's nearby. Not threatening or anthing. Just casual. Almost like a "hello."

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-10-2014 6:35 AMThere is also a video featuring the audio of the roar.
Credit goes to the YouTube user zillabeast for the video.
Now, that I have listened to this roar more, I cannot shake the feeling that the monster sounds a little like the monster from Cloverfield. Of course, it is still too early to say that they sound similiar because we have yet to see the monster in action, but the similiarty is certainly there.
Compare that roar to this:

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-10-2014 6:52 AM@JudgeBaggins- Now that I've listened to those both, I do hear some similarities. Hopefully there aren't any outlandish Clover=MUTO theories that stem from this. I truly don't believe this creature is worthy of standing at Godzilla's foot. (Also, Clover is much larger than the MUTO I thought?)

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-10-2014 7:13 AMActually, I do not know if this is the Winged Muto or the eight-legged one. If it is the eight legged Muto, then it would get stomped by Godzilla as the footage description from both the SXSW Festival and Comic Con mention a huge size difference between it and Godzilla.
As for the whole idea of MUTO=Cloverfield, that would not be possible because Paramount owns the rights to Cloverfield. Now, this could change of course if they auctioned the rights to the monster with Warner Brothers. That has happened before because Warner Bros got the rights to Christopher Nolan's upcoming film Interstellar while Paramount got Friday the 13th and South Park as stated here:

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-10-2014 7:28 AMSounds like the muto grunts or roars and starts to walk, cause you can hear the thumping noise.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-10-2014 7:47 AMmeh, itll do the job fine. but it's not memorable, not like the other toho monsters imo

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-10-2014 8:35 AMTo me, Cloverfield had a very haunting and eery cry. For me, that added to the atmosphere. Of course, Cloveefiled was simply meant to be an animal. The Mutos are supposed to be actively melevolent (according to the film description). Now Cloverfield was meant to be mysterious, resigned to sporaticglimpses until it's big reveal. So the eery and haunting nature of it's calls made sense. Now the muto call is a little haunting, but is much more intimidating given how they are supposed to be monsters. It definately has an alien quality to it, which would make sense as it's like nothing in our world today. Anyway, i like it, i think i've rambled enough.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-10-2014 8:43 AMSounds like a low pitched version of Gigan roar.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-10-2014 12:13 PM@Gojira429 - I accidently found it digging around the source code on Godzillamovie.com while trying to find that Alexandre Desplat score sample that plays in the background. I used the Web Developer tools in Google Chrome to display all media files embedded on the site, and stashed away in there was MUTO's roar. Nice surprise!

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-10-2014 12:16 PMIt sounds kind of like Ghidorah from GMK. Very cool, and kind of how I expected it to sound.
