List of Godzilla and Related DVDs/Bluray CURRENTLY Available

In case anyone is antsy...

You can purchase a digital copy of Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla and Son Godzilla on Vudu for $9.99 a pop. I use Vudu a lot so I'm contemplating it.

I got them both on vudu. They are all right looking, I just don't like that they are the dubbed versions. But I am a firm believer in a little something is better than a whole lot of nothing. I got REALLY lucky a few years back and won the now oop dvds on a ebay auction. Oh man it's cheaper to do coke than to get some of these disks!!

Holding out for Criterion.

Any idea when Criterion will release the Godzilla movies on Blu-ray? 

^None. But around a certain May date next year would be pretty ideal.

Thanks, but this now as outdated as it gets. I'll clean it up one day, but I'm sort of waiting for Criterion to announce something about their titles.

Have you ever thought about doing a list of every Godzilla DVD release on region 1?

Hopefully with the netflix anime and new trailers coming out for the new movie there will be some classic bluray releases coming out soon to capitalize on the renewed interest. One can always hope!

Looks like i'm going to have to get back to building up my Godzilla archive. I pretty much have most of Showa and of the millennium movies on dvd. I just need to buy the Heisei, G98, and Shin Godzilla movies. Oh I also need all of the King Kong movies as well as the other Toho movies.

I'm sort of banking on that. I've been holding off on updating this list because I keep expecting some major shift in releases mid-year.

Yes, I noticed their line-up as well. I doubt we'll see anything in June either. I wonder if they're waiting on Toho's 4K restorations first--In which case we may be waiting for home video releases from Janus/Criterion for a very, very long time.

Excuse me but I have forgotten, when is that supposed to come out again?

I haven't been following news on 4K/possible 4K restorations for the Godzilla films recently. I know a 4K restoration of King Kong vs. Godzilla aired on Japanese television back in 2016--But after that I haven't heard much. The thing is 4K restorations of older films take a whole lot of time and, considering how expansive the Godzilla series is, doing them all will likely take a few years. (Assuming that's Toho's plan.)

Literally, the most exciting release coming out in the franchise right now.

Got mine preordered, just hope they all have the original Japanese dialog with the subtitles. Most of the dubs are laughably horrible especially VS Ebirah.

You won't have to worry about that. Many don't even include dubs, which is becoming the norm these days.

I hate to say it but for the price I paid for this set I am not to impressed with the video quality at all. I don't know if these were supposed to be remastered or restored or whatever the case, it looks to be just old untouched versions just on bluray. The color is a tad to strong and looks grainy. My classic media dvd set looks WAY better.

It would be nice if the released the other two collections in sets like this one.

I've heard Sony let their rights lapse so most of the Heisei and Millennium films should be up for grabs about now. That being said I don't expect Criterion of all people to pick them up, but it would be nice if some other distributor decided to consolidate all of the Heisei and Millennium films and release them in box sets. The outliers are The Return of Godzilla and Godzilla vs. Biollante, the latter of which I know is without a distributor. I know Kraken let their other Godzilla titles go, so it's probably a matter of time before their rights to The Return of Godzilla expire as well. I don't know what if any company would be willing to pick all of the films up though.
