If The Asylum were to rip off Godzilla...

A company that tries to capitalize on recently released movies (for example, King Kong, Transformers, Cloverfield, and Pacific Rim) by releasing low-budget, direct-to-video movies (King of the Lost World, Transmorphers, Montser, and Atlantic Rim)? That company responsible for the Mega Shark Vs. series of movies? That company obsessed with shark movies in general?
To my knowledge, there hasn't been any news of The Asylum producing a rip-off of Godzilla 2014. So with that in mind, let's have a little fun. If The Asylum were to try to capitalize on Godzilla 2014, what kind of movie do you think they would make? Here's my two personal predictions...
1) A sequel to either Monster or Atlantic Rim
2) A "remake" of an older monster movie, such as Gorgo, The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, The Giant Gila Monster, or Gappa: The Triphibian Monster (bonus points if its a remake of a movie that itself tried to capitalize on Godzilla's success, such as either Gamera or Pulgasari).
Something tells me they'll attempt it, since they did it with Pacific Rim, which was also by Legendary and released last year.
Legendary got the rites to Godzilla from Toho. If The Asylum tried to rip off Godzilla, they would likely get sued by both companies and be hunted by hardcore Godzilla fans with intetions of a predator stalking prey. It would be unwise on their part to attempt such a feet.

I was gonna make a post about this at one point. It would be hilarious to see them do this. They might call it "Godziller" or "Kingzilla", or maybe even "ZillaGod".
My hatred for Asylum burns from the heat of a thousand suns. They better not touch Godzilla!

I doubt it would be a remake of something. They at least try to do their own thing. Even if the title and cover (sometimes the plot) are complete rip-offs. Anyway, I think they should call it Allah-zilla, lol.

GOOD!!!! Those toolbags deserve to get their butts sued off! I pray they leave the King of the Monsters alone, but chances are they won't be able to resist ripping off this new movie. They are probably salivating over the possibilities right now.
Yeah, if you can't tell, I can't stand these guys.

Ughhhh.... When I knew about "Atlantic Rim" I was furious for the stupidity of such a complete rip-off that didn't even TRY to disimulate it was a rip-off. They basically just thought of the cheapest, most childish way to copy Pacific Rim.
MAN, I HATE THEM...
Don't they even dare get near Godzilla...
"Its a Tyrannosaurus."
"I don't think so... It sounds bigger. It sounds like death; the destroyer of worlds...."
I don't like Atlantic Rim, either, and I really dislike Asylum, but my reaction was different when I saw it.
I laughed my head off! It's just so pathetic how they rip-off good movies and how their 'movies' like Atlantic Rim are always so lousy and corny. Plus, the acting and special effects always stink and are simply laughable. I've seen some of their films, and I always laugh throughout the whole thing.
Still, when it comes to Godzilla, they better not mess with him. I don't want any cheap excuse for a movie making fun of the King of the Monsters. I mean, you guys say ZILLA is a bad excuse for the real Godzilla, but Asylum could win that competition hands-down.
@Spinojira
That screen name rocks, dude. I LOVE spinosaurus and mixing it with Gojira? That's awesome.
A rip-off fromt hem would most likely be far from how the actual movie will be. The monster and the movies name will probably be a rip-off, but seeing as we and they know so little about the story, it would be hard to rip-off. Unless of course they wait untill the movie have been released to make their rip-off, unlike Atlantic Rim which was made side by side with Pacific Rim.
Personally I would love it. I mean I couldn't stop laughing when I saw their movie Sharknado, so I know I'd be dying if i watched a Godzilla rip off.
Please do this make it into a movie then make it fight the megashark that can jump out of the water to destroy jets.
if they would rip off the mighty gojira in this kind of way then yeah they definitly need to be sued i watched mega shark vs giant octopus and how lame can you get? i would have rather watched zilla over this crap.

I am from Mexico, and here back at 2011 was demostrated that Toho is pretty adamant with the rights over all Godzilla stuff. There was a music band called La Morocha (Brunette) which created a musical video with pretty low budget and sfx for fun, and such video included a take of an Imperial Godzilla moving through a city poster where Godzilla´s roar and the begining of G intro theme from King Kong vs Godzilla are heard. THe take was silly because the hand moving the figure was not hidden; but even with this they received a legal warning from Toho stating that they will proceed legally unless the band stop to promote the video to the public. THe vid still can be seen in youtube here:

A note about the case can be found here:
There were more notes back then, incluiding the copy of the letter of TOho, but I cannot find that material on the web today.
If the Asylum were to film a Godzilla rip off they would call it something like "Atomic Alligator" or some hilarious title like that.
If they make a Godzilla rip off then they better use rubber suits and miniature effects, it would really be a huge step from the crappy CGI they always use, Hell! Low budget practical effects would look even better and WAY more REALISTIC than the CGI they always use.
LOL, I love the Asylum, don't get me wrong, I don't mean to say that I support rip offs or the act of copying others' ideas, that's nasty by itself, but you've got to admit that these guys are hilarious xD
Monster, Transmorphers, H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds... Oh man! The nostalgia! :')
Sigh. I don't think what they are doing is exactly iilegal, particularly if they said their films were parodies, it'd be completely legal. The term they coin is 'mockbuster'. Most of the times they get sued, the company suing them loses because the story of said mockbuster is different enough that it doesn't count as infringement.
Problem is, the movies are just bad and they are meant to appeal to a certain brand of low-brow film renters. People who don't know better. Its like how parents will buy the cheaper console for their kids for christmas, or buy nasty palmer chocolate bunnies instead of the good Russel Stover stuff during Easter. Its all a money game. They cash in on it. Its not evil, its not plagerism, is just annoying capitalism at its best.
Can you say they are evil for wanting to make money off something that is popular? Specially since there are people out there who are going and picking up the new godzilla figures and selling them for three times their price on ebay?
Its just how this great western civilization works...
I for one can't wait to see the stupid, horribly done piece of dog crap they produce so I can laugh at it and the people who are duped into renting it.
@AKAGI I'm pretty sure their films are actually made to appeal to people like you, who watch them to laugh at how bad they are. I mean, just look at Sharknado, it's obvious just from reading the title alone that it's intentionally meant to be So Bad, It's Good, sort of like Troll 2.
