MemberMothra LarvaeDec-29-2013 7:33 AMIn advance, I apologize if anything I say has been said already.
So, to begin, I find it very interesting that part of the film will take place in 1954. While this is probably WAY-OFF from the actual plot, here's what I believe it involves: The events of the original film exist in this canon, or at least to some extent. Perhaps *A* Godzilla or other kaiju was spawned due to the radiation from nuclear testing, but it was on a smaller scale. Maybe it only existed on the small island with the village and it was only a 100 feet tall. The military kills it and tries to cover it up, but for decades tries to replicate the event.
Now, as to Godzilla's origins, I'm gonna assume he is still a mutated dinosaur, except he is created from the radiation leakage of Fukushima. And the concentrations are far more powerful than the nuclear testing, so he's even bigger than the kaiju from 1954.
Simultaneously, M.U.T.O. is trying to recreate the events of 1954 in a California (or possibly Japan) research facility and it all goes wrong and the Mutos escape and wreak havoc. This somehow may attract Godzilla out from hiding, almost like a territorial instinct found in many animals. And his arrival may attract another kaiju similar to his size.
Just speculation and nerd-fancy, but I could see it setting up a decent enough plot.
What do you guy/girls think?

MemberTitanosaurusDec-29-2013 10:04 AMI'm thinking that such a large Godzilla as big as the one we'll be seeing couldn't have possibly been made by the Fukushima incident alone. I don't remember where, but I think it's been said that this Godzilla will be awoken from several eons of hibernation or something like that. I also personally believe that this Godzilla was created long before humans even existed, and has had time to grow, absorb natural radiation, and rest for long periods, and that nuclear accident in 2011 was simply the latest wake-up call for his routine awakening and search of radioactive sources to feed on, and he just happens to find humans being assholes and new monster running amok.

GODZILLA HIMSELF
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-29-2013 1:22 PMgodzilla should be ancient with some mystery about his true oigin( pherhaps something having to do with the KT event), but it should be things like nuclear tests that bring the monster out.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-29-2013 1:24 PMIts really good idea just sounds like the original story plot from 1954

GODZILLA HIMSELF
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-29-2013 1:25 PMTHEGMAN, that was acyually implied in g54, remember the trilobite in the foot print. while trilobites are of course waaaayyy older than dinosaurs the idea was definetly to show godzilla as having existed for many millions of years.
also, wouldn't it be cool if godzillas existence explained myths and legends like sea serpents and such?

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-29-2013 1:28 PMIn the 1954 movie they said the Jurassic period was only 2 million years old (and that Godzilla was too).

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-29-2013 5:29 PMI have always seen Godzilla territorial. I mean if anything goes into Japan he kills it, or trys to kill it.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-29-2013 5:33 PMThat's a really good speculation...could make for an interesting plot,well done

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-29-2013 5:33 PMYa I agree... the only unterritorial Godzillas (fought for different reasons) were the 60s and 70s Godzilla. The original and a few heisei

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-30-2013 7:23 AMOkay, I really like the idea of Godzilla basically being slowly baked into existence over thousands or millions of years. Makes sense for the most part. Would also have pretty good thematic elements about whether or not mankind is rightfully in charge. Hence his nickname, "The King".
What do you guys think about the Mutos and the 1954 scenes? Any differentiating opinions there?
