Crazy idea about M.U.T.O.

I had this crazy idea about M.U.T.O. - well 2 crazy ideas actually.

I remember that when the sinkhole photos were first released there was an accompanying story about how unique organisms may have formed just like those around undersea volcanic vents.

Now, what if "Monster Island" was not an island at all but a network of underground cavens and tunnels? The sinkholes could have been created by some of these cavens subsiding. The M.U.T.O. research organisations could have stations in some of the cavens or tunnels where they observe mutated flora and fauna that have evolved underground. Just imagine what would happen if this evolution was fast-tracked because of some form of experimentation gone wrong and creatures escaped to the surface.

The other idea is that M.U.T.O. is not the name of an organisation but stand for Mobile Underground Thermophilic Organism.
