MemberMothra LarvaeDec-01-2013 9:52 PMGareth Edwards has stated that he wants to portray Godzilla and everything that makes Godzilla what he is, in a way that doesn't come across as too unbelievable.
With that being said, allow me to share an idea.
Godzilla's atomic breath will not be a ray or a beam. :D (Not once has it ever been confirmed as such)
Godzilla's breath will be "invisible", but due to the very heated nature of the breath, it will probably look like a heatwave in areas affected. (Not once has Godzilla's breath color been confirmed)
So what are your thoughts on my ideas? Are they stupid? Do they make sense? Do you hate them?

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-01-2013 10:08 PMTo be completely honest with you, that sounds quite amazing and incredibly believable. It makes sense, and is far from stupid. Although, I think Gareth wants to hold this characteristic true to Godzilla's character. Im guessing it'll be a blue beam. However, I dont think it'll cause explotions. I think it would just vaporize anything it touches and slightly around it while setting flames to things at distance. Maybe it'll even leave a huge trace of lethal radiation. I mean that would makes sense, but that is simplay my own speculation(I could be 100% wrong) Lol but I do like your idea. Although a "Blue atomic beam" sounds unrealistic, then again, it doesn't. Think of an eel, and how they literally spew electricity out of their bodies IN WATER without killing themselves, and they're just normal ocean creatures. While Godzilla is an atomic creature. Who knows, maybe we will see in a trailer OR just have to wait for the movie.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-01-2013 10:15 PMI'm guessing we'll have to wait until the movie. lmfao
Electric Eels are covered in something like mucous, which isn't at all a decent conductor, which spares them from being electricuted by themselves. So that's that explanation. lmao
Yeah, I think Gareth will stick with the blue beam, but I think it would be more frightening to use the "invisible" breath.

Rampage3
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-01-2013 10:42 PMI would think that it would be an initially invisible wave that will eventually turn into some sort of fireball due to it igniting the atmosphere.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-01-2013 10:47 PMThat would be amazing, as long as his spikes glow I would be sooooo okay with that. I depict his spike's nerves glowing and being clearly visible as opposed to the actual spikes themselves glowing; kind of like an illuminating hearbeat on his back.

Akio123
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-01-2013 10:49 PMI actually like the idea of nerves in the spikes glowing rather than it all glowing! Awesome! I can picture that!

InstinctiveGigan
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-01-2013 10:51 PMAlso consider that the toys leaked gave a figure with "atomic breath action". So it'll for sure have a color. Maybe it'll be like the atomic breath like the background pictuer of this sight. A glowing flashlight like illuminance coming from his mouth that makes his spikes glow but doing all the effects you just said. It would be awesome!

BCrockett94
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-01-2013 10:57 PMEh, the 98 Godzilla toys had fire breathing action as well, but that never made it into the movie. :P
The glowing nerve idea is pretty sick!

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-01-2013 10:59 PMActually he did breath fire once in the movie, it sucked complete ass but at least he tried. XD

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-01-2013 11:07 PMReally? I thought it was just super heated gas and that it lit the cars on fire. Huh, learn something new every day. xD

Linkzilla
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-01-2013 11:17 PMNo, you were right, it was just flammable gas that was lit by the cars.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-01-2013 11:39 PMI would like a small segment in the movie where they try to explain the physics behind Godzila's breath. Like it is a combination of gases and unstable radioactive particle, that when they come into contact with other materials cause micro-explosions at a molecular level or cause molecular instablity of other materials on contact. That could also explain the effects of godzilla's breath in past movies like how it can cause sparks to fly off armored enemies or explosions in buildings.
The color of his breath also display a difference in his power: The blue breath has more kinetic potential so it can push back enemies, while the orange breath it more fury like and causes flames and explosions. The blue on is more powerful and stable than the orange one.

MemberTitanosaurusDec-02-2013 7:51 AMI'm hoping that there's at least some visual indication of the sheer destructive potential of the atomic breath. I'm guessing it won't be causing explosions wherever it goes. Again, I'd like to think of it as a simple vaporization stream that simply causings things to disappear from sheer atomic heat and molecule scattering. Blue will definitely be the indicator colour, but I do agree that a concentrated beam is a bit too unbelievable. Perhaps more like a vapour at first that causes things to melt, then reacts with the environment to glow blue and increases the overall radiation and heat levels to maximum.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-02-2013 8:38 AMI hoping the atmoic breath does lots of damge in the city like in destroyah but im good with the atmoic breath hope the spines will glow

AtomicBreathMint
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-06-2013 6:54 PMI would like the actual atomic breath to have some spread to it, like a cone instead of a ray. That way there's a huge damage field the farther away it's used. Also, I always envisioned the spikes glowing sequentially, like each spike carries the charge from his tail up his spine toward his head, and each spike adds to the charge until it all comes blasting from his mouth.
