I was looking at the following image again and noticed some aspects about it. You will note the feet are webbed, indicating it's semi-aquatic. Now compare to a Komodo Dragon foot... Still no idea on what type of monitor lizard it is, but even narrowing down to a group is a good thing. NOTE: Monitors and Iguanas are descendants of mosasaurs!

I believe in Jesus Christ, who's my Lord and Savior.

I sure hope this thing is in the movie. I am getting sick of hearing people say the words "insect" or "spider". "Monitor lizard" or "varanid" is more like it! BTW, iguanas are only distantly related to mosasaurs. And while modern monitor lizards are very closely related to them, they are still not descendants, as all mosasaurs went extinct at the end of the Cretaceous with the dinosaurs and all other large reptiles.

As it has been for so many people along the way, you're seeing something that's not there or something that you want to see. This creature is clearly insectoid in nature given the "skin" texture and the number of legs it possesses. There is no webbing that I can see in this picture, and I have a copy of the trailer itself which I've watched numerous times. Even watching it in HD, I saw (and see) no webbing in these feet. This creature is clearly not a monitor lizard of any kind. Even mutated, a monitor lizard would not possess 6+ limbs. Using the excuse "radiation can do whatever you want it to" does not work because radiation's effects on creatures is surprisingly limited.

Many people speculates the monster as mothra larvae which sounds about right since it has similar features, but aside from that there are no other toho monsters that looks like that, so it could also be a new kaiju

@Kyero, HOW THE HELL DOES THIS THING LOOK LIKE AN ARTHROPOD IN ANY WAY!? It may not be a monitor lizard, but it sure as hell is not a centipede! @Hige, It doesn't look like Mothra larvae either
