I ran into this surfing around and actually a scorpion never crossed my mind. In the trailer it somewhat resembles one. Plus there is a tail that seems attached to the lying corpse also in the trailer. Could this be? Check it out ---->http://www.proprofs.com/quiz-school/story.php?title=mutos

I came across an article saying that the 2012 monster was maybe inspired by scientific research done in Japan on how the radiation was affected the ecosystem, specifically silkworms. However, the monster designs have been updated since 2012. 2013 describes the new monster(s) as being different than the 2012 test footage.
