Think back, way back to when you saw your first Godzilla movie. What made you a fan of Godzilla initially? Was it the look of Godzilla himself? Was it the story? What made you a fan? Let us know by replying below!

Godzilla emerging out of the ground in Mothra vs Godzilla... Still scares the crap out of me

Probrobly Godzilla the series, the animated tv show that came after the first American Godzilla (which was way better by the way). I saw godzilla movies prior but watching this I thought it was pretty good so I got out my godzilla movies and watched them and then I was hooked on giant monster movies.

I saw Godzilla for the first time around 6 years old so 1973, I saw Ghidora, Three Headed Monster and I was hooked. What was there not to love about it at that age. Then we were lucky in the 70's to actually to watch movies on ABC at 4:30pm. There would be Monster Week at times and see a week of Godzilla flicks.

Destroy all Monsters was cool as it was like an all star movie. To see all those characters in the same movie was epic then.

Since I was five. Can't really explain why I like it. It just sets you in a trance, and they are just enthralling.

I've been a fan since I was about 4 years old. I can't tell you why I'm a fan of the character, I just am, and I've never lost interest in Godzilla while other franchises I loved as a kid grew a little old on me. I can say, I remember clearly that my early exposure to Godzilla came from a show called Creature Double Feature that would air on Saturday mornings and often featured Godzilla films of the 60s and 70s and my parents bought me King of the Monsters on VHS. That movie and Godzilla 1985 were always my most favorite to watch, even though I loved the classics like vs. Mothra and Ghidrah too. I was born in '83, so I missed out on seeing '85 in the theater, man how I wish I could have. Sadly, the only Godzilla films I've been able to see on the big screen have been '98 (which isn't Godzilla) and Godzilla 2000, which is an ok movie, but it's not like seeing '54 ore '84 or other favorites. I'm hopeful for Godzilla 2014 just so I can see a good Godzilla movie and have the theater experience.

Simply put, when I was around 4 years old, my folks bought me a double VHS set of Godzilla movies, which had Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, and Godzilla vs. Gigan. I watched both movies in that order (leading to confusion that Mechagodzilla was before Gigan, until I started going around the net), and I've been hooked ever since. I kinda wish there were more consistent releases of the old Godzilla movies though, maybe not all 28 in one box set (The one that was released in 2005 notwithstanding) but maybe multiple box sets of like, 4-5 movies in a row, from oldest to newest.

I can remember when i was in Pre-K and on TV i saw a commercial for
purchase of the Godzilla: Final Wars DVD and boy was i so amazed by the epicness of godzilla! Later on in life my Uncle would come over to our house during cookouts and he would scroll through the guide looking for something to watch, He put on his favorite godzilla movie, Godzilla vs Megalon and i watched the movie with him. I was so interested in it that my dad bought the Godzilla Save the Earth game for me and him. he played it and so did i but i was like 5 or 6 so how was i suppose to know? I loved the game and in a store i saw toys for godzilla and their monsters. i bought spacegodzilla, destoroyah, godzilla, etc. And then i started watching all of the moives with my neighbor whom i spread this fandom to, and we would play with the toys (lol) and everyday we would just have fun with Godzillla. Later he moved away and i gave him one of my Godzilla toys in remembrance of me.........So now i am older and i have Godzilla Unleashed as a game and still the toys (damaged and missing pieces XD) and i cant wait for this new godzilla movie! Thanks for reading this post, i know it was long but i got caught up in it

I remember seeing Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster on the old disney channel when I was a kid, that was my first Godzilla movie I saw and I've been a fan ever since, used to collect some action figures of him too.

KingGojiraJuly 25, 2013
I'm not really sure what made me a Godzilla fan and I don't really know if I can quite explain it appropriately. Probably just his size, cool sounding roar and his sheer bad-assness is what made me a fan.

DeltadromeusJuly 28, 2013
How could you not be a fan of Godzilla? The Godzilla movies where some of the first and best movies I've ever watched, followed by jurassic park. The fact that my grandpa loves Godzilla to really helps.
Hi

Gl78064July 29, 2013
When I was 3 years old I used to watch Jurassic Park almost every day on cable television. I loved dinosaurs as a child. Then one day, I stumbled upon Godzilla vs King Ghidorah on cable (Yes, Godzilla used to be on cable in the good ol' days.) . Since I was fond of dinosaurs, I automatically fell in love with the Godzilla franchise. And that's basically how I became a Godzilla fan.

Kaiju7August 05, 2013
The first movie I saw was Godzilla with Raymond Burr. I would dread the first appearance of Big G over the hill. But to be in a big suit and get to knock down scaled down buildings, awesome! My middle school students will say, "You can tell it's not real." My reply, "That's not the point." #noimagination
saiyaman_unleashedAugust 16, 2013
I liked dinosaurs as a kid so when Godzilla vs Gigan rolled around my brain exploded. Giant monsters, destroying buildings, fighting each other, evil aliens, beam breath like a dragon! Came from the ocean. Boom! Instantly hooked as a kid.
ernesth100August 16, 2013
seeing the 1998 movie sorry that was the first I had heard of him sorry I loved the movie I watch it every time it comes on it was the first godzilla movie i saw. It took me a few months to find out that was Zilla or G.I.N.O. sorry thats how it happened!

Watching GINO when I was 3 years old. >_< Ironic, isn't it? That movie actually made me get over my fear of Godzilla! I just loved the concept of giant monsters after that.

dinofreak22August 19, 2013
When I was about 7-8 my parents let me pick out some movies and the 2 i chose was GODZILLA(1998) and Godzilla 2000. I loved them both since I was so into dinosaurs at the time. As I got older I started finding more movies and eventually gained so many Godzilla films. I now am a huge fan of Godzilla and love all the monsters introduced to the franchise. I have all movie but Godzilla vs. King Kong and Godzilla 1985. My favorite one so far is Final wars because they has so many classic monsters reintroduced into the millennium era of the franchise.
sailorckg9225August 19, 2013
My Dad had always loved Godzilla, and owned the movies (from the 60's and 70's) . (He was a kid when the bulk of them came out) So ever since I was little, he would watch them, and it captivated me. From the terrible dubbing, to the awesome action, and the fearsome foes, it was something that I continue to love now. I have yet to see Godzilla 2000..... My parents are a tad worried it will be too gory for me... Either way, Go Go Godzilla!

jacobzilla90sAugust 19, 2013
I remember watching the classic series with my dad on some old TV program (cant remember what it was for the life of me) and it just spawned from there. First renting some VHS tapes of Godzilla movies. Soon the buying of the figures started. Then I was officially hooked.

Godzillafan11August 21, 2013
When I was a little kid, I was introduced to Godzilla by watching a VHS copy of King Kong vs. Godzilla. It is actually a good Godzilla movie in my opinion, although not my favorite. What most likely made me become a Godzilla fan and watch more films of the monster was because I am a huge dinosaur enthusiast and I liked that he is a dinosaur survivor. Also, his atomic fire breath is primarily blue, and blue is my all time favorite color.
zillasucksAugust 21, 2013
i just remember my first movies being Godzilla vs. Biollante and Vs. King Ghidorah from a vhs tape here in America. i just remember being amazed and realizing that Godzilla is a GOD.

rrillustrationAugust 22, 2013
as a huge dinosaur fanatic in the sixties, the evolution to Godzilla fandom was seemless and a natural fit. When Godzilla vs the Smog Monster hit theaters, I was hopelessly hooked for life. The first movie I took my then "baby brother" to was Godzilla vs Megalon! I just bought it and we watched it again for the first time in decades. Unfortunately, my wife just doesn't get it.... LOL

What made me a fan was his size, strength and never say die attitude.

My first godzilla movie was the terror of mechagodzilla. I was more into mechagodzilla at first til I seen that godzilla had alot more films. I was 3 at the time now I'm 18 but I'd say mechagodzilla got me into the godzilla world

i remember mostly the corny old cartoon series. i was living in another country and didnt get very many cartoons and the ones that were on were all old hanna barbera stuff.

i remember seeing some of the movies before i got into japanese movies and animation and i thought it was weird as hell lol. dubbing was confusing and the difference in culture was weird to me. i watched godzilla movies more for comedy, i still find them humorous but i understand and appreciate them more as an adult.

A few different things. First would be my pop, who showed me the original movie on TV when I was about 4 years old. Later that year, the first movie I ever saw in the theater was Godzilla vs. The Thing. Godzilla was always so cool (although later on, I always wished he would live, like Gorgo did). I just always liked the idea of a monster who was such a primal force. I still miss the old days of Thanksgiving in NYC when on Thursday we got King Kong, Son of Kong and Mighty Joe Young, then on Friday Godzilla, King of the Monsters and two random others. When I finally got to see the original, un-Raymond Burred version, I went nuts. I enjoyed Godzilla all over again. I still remember buying the 90's movies on bootlegs, I wanted to see them so badly. The Big G has always been a part of my SF consciousness and always will be.

Gojira 2014September 23, 2013
This may sound crazy but the first thing when my mom gave birth to me was the godzilla 1954 dvd that my dad was holding when he just bought it hours before my birth, I was destined because then when I started seeing the films I thought they were badass. I am 13 right now and I swear to always be a godzilla fan because its the most epic thing ive ever seen in my whole entire life.
I have become death.......the casher at the donut shop.......

I was like 3 years old and all I ever watched was Disney movies and cartoons. You could'nt get me to see something that wasn't animated, especially the wizard of oz, so my parents came up with an idea. They would give me a movie that was cartoon like but live action and action packed. They gave me a double feature of Godzilla vs Mecha-Godzilla & Godzilla vs Gigan ( on VHS). After I watched the Big G fight his mechanical counterpart I was hooked. An my parents kept trying to find Godzilla movies to rent or buy for me and kept on like that. I konestly thought he was real back then, ahhh childhood!!!
godzillafan42September 27, 2013
As a child the stories never really mattered to me. Lol i used ot only watch them for the last 20 minutes or so of godzilla showing up and fighting as i got older i noticed the story more though so I could appreciate the movies more

AnguirusFan01October 17, 2013
Well, back in 2009, I was a huge fan of 'The Land Before Time.' (Don't blame me, I was only 7!) I learned about this T-rex named 'Red-Claw' and I read that he used the roar of 'The American Godzilla' I was like, "What the heck is a Godzilla?" So, I searched Godzilla on Google, now, I'm addicted. I also originally thought that Zilla was the real Godzilla back then, it's when I started studying him that I found out about the real king.

sfjira415October 28, 2013
When i read this question two things came to mind:
1 The Godzilla soundtrack for King of the monsters the first movie hospital scene watching all the chaos after effect and the underwater death of Godzilla scene.
2 Godzilla vs Monster Zero the infamous Dance and the new Godzilla 1990's Godzilla movies except GODZILLA 1997
ALL HAIL GOJIRA

I was barely 4 years old when my curiosity made me watch the triple feature vhs my parents had themselves bought out of curiosty. I was young and had a major dinosaur fascination and my parents told me the Big G was a giant fire-breathing one at that, it couldn't get much better than that to me. The first movie was Invasion of Astro Monster. The story mostly went over my head but the thing that sealed the deal was Godzilla's abso-fucking-lutely hilarious victory dance after beating Ghidorah the first time.

The first time I saw Godzilla vs Megalon, I was hooked.

I became a Godzilla fan after watching several movies. My favorite was Godzilla X Destotoyah, which was double sided with Godzilla X Spacegodzilla.

ah yea the reason why I like Godzilla
well It all started when i was a little boy, my father would always tell me about how huge the beast was and how incredible th monster was. When I was 8 years old my father took me to a flea market and there were 2 Godzilla films on VHS. Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla and Godzilla 1985. Godzilla 1985 scared the piss out of me when i first watched it. Then I watched Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. I was so amazed how much fighting there is in the film i was automaticly hooked! Then later i use to rent Godzilla vs Biollante and that was the scariest movie i saw because of how monstrous Biollante is. Then I saw Godzilla 2000, and well since then i was hooked like hell.
