Alfonso de la Torre was a concept artist who worked on Legendary Pictures' Monsterverse instalment Kong: Skull Island back in 2014. Below are approved concepts he created for the film. The first shows an alternative King Kong design while the second more closely resembles what Kong eventually became:

Kong will return to battle Godzilla in 2020's Godzilla vs. Kong.
These look ok. However it does look a bit to much like Bigfoot to me.
I'm glad they decided not to go with the more gorilla-like design.
The Monsterverse's Kong is distinct yet still fits the character and the kind of cinematic universe he's in.
