There's nothing in the movie that confirms he lost or kept the energy. There might be some source book out there that claims it--I'll do some digging. Otherwise, it just seems like some loose wording from fans/writers.
One thing is certain... there is DEFINETLY more than 4 kaiju in King of the Monsters. Call it a hunch but... I think TOHO green lighted a couple of monsters on the down low and kept it quiet.
Don't be surprised... if it's true... but be amazed if it is because it signals the future of the monsterverse.
The Monarch Sciences site shows outposts all over the place. I think I counted 14 that were still "classified". They'll all be rising from the hollow earth.
G. H. (Gman): Oh really? ;)
Personally much as I would like to see Kumonga or Anguirus on the big screen again, I doubt they would appear in KoTM. If those classic fellas are going to appear, we would have heard some rumours of them by now. I believe those are original kaijus from Legendary, as the trailer did say the titans are now appearing all over Earth. So it may be more a sign of their awakening than having the old Toho classic monsters back.
Godzillatheking123,
We'd tell you. But then we'd have to kill you.
Does Legendary have the rights to other Toho kaijus or is it limted to only Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Mothra and Rodan?
There are quite a few, actually. ;)
I hope we get to see lots of property destruction instead of just the aftermath. I love his heisei eyes!
Toho monsters are likely out, and a new member of the Godzilla family is also unlikely.
Godzilla Junior is not in this movie.
Since there are 2 more glimpses of creatures in that latest trailer. The possibility of there being a Gjr are high.
What monsters do you think they are hinting to in the the latest trailer drop?
My guesses are Baragon & Kumonga.
I don't believe that this is Rodan due to the creatures arm not possessing any membrane or wing of any kind.
Though there were two shots depicting two secret kaiju, I doubt that they were it. One has to be an insect while another is a mountain. I believe that the mountain would either be baragon, anguirus, and Kamoebas. The only creature I can see this being other than godzilla would be obsidius from the game.
We weren't told of any other Kaiju aquisitions from Toho. So, I think it has to be either a super charged/heated godzilla, burning godzilla, or a new kaiju.
That shot could be of Rodan as well. Or maybe Rodan set Godzilla on fire somehow. I doubt they would set up Godzilla's death so early, but then again this is the studio that shoved Death of Superman into BvS so you never know...
It would be cool if a ToHo monster appeared, like Angiurus being the one monster that was moving the mountain. I'm not sure on the one where the claws were coming out of the ground, but people are saying that it may be Kumonga
Personally I don't think this is Burning Godzilla, but maybe a less powerful form of it.
If the first film was the slow unveiling into a quiet act, then this one is surely the epic new spin on the old show.
I'm still waiting for figures of Godzilla '98, Baby Godzilla '98, GTS Godzilla '98, GTS Baby Godzilla '98, Cyber-Godzilla, GFW Zilla, and IDW Zilla. <333
Well I'm hyped up! <3
Would be awesome to see a return of the Burning Godzilla!
There'll probably be one other monster but it will most likely appear in the end-credit scene.
I love how we get a better look at specifically Mothra and King Ghidorah!
At the very least, Godzilla's emitting such great heat energy that the surrounding area is catching fire and melting.
Could be an overcharged state similar to Burning Godzilla, but we can't say for sure.
Probably just random Titans to contextualize the urgency of addressing their growing reemergence in the modern day.
The first one looks like it's emerging somewhere in the Middle East and looks to be an arthropod of sorts, perhaps even a scorpion-like Titan.
The second one is bursting out from a mountain, though it's unclear if it's a mammal, reptile, insect, arachnid, or whatever else.
If it is not Titanosaurus or Anguirus I am walking out of the theater. After the movie is done. And be super understanding.
GameraPresence: That could be possible, but I tend to hedge on the conservative side with expectations. If you set yourself up expecting burnt form Godzilla appearing and he doesn't, you are going to be disappointed.
Right now, we don't know enough to say either way, best to not to expect too much unless we hear more rumours.
I think they will be reference material to show how there are more kaiju/titans appearing around the world. This movie already has 4 kaiju that have taken the spotlight so adding these new kaiju to the plot would make the movie feel a little bit cramped.
I hope that when the movie comes out, we will see these new kaiju appear on the Monarch sciences website with some information about them.
^I agree. The question then remains if these other Titans will have actual fights, or if they're mostly flashback/reference material to give context to the current geopolitical situation during the film.
If I would have to guess I would say that Mothra and Ghidorah will die in this movie and that Godzilla (pretty obvious why) and Rodan will survive.
If Mothra dies, she has always been able to reincarnate through her young which I can see carried over to the monsterverse.
@KaijuWorld judging that there haven't been any other reports of Legendary getting any other rights to Toho monsters, I'm assuming they're not. Most definitely gonna be new monsters.
I played Destroy all Monsters growing up on gamecube and Unleashed on the wii. Both are good and while I preferred the monster variety in Unleashed, I felt the monster fights were too animated and was never a huge fan of the health and energy cells. In Destroy all Monsters you feel like you are the monster and have much faster paced battles where certain monster matchups obviously matter, plus it has the nostalgia effect. *Shout out Godzilla Domination for being an under rated awesome Godzilla game*
Now that the second trailer is out, a part of it is the senate meeting deciding how to deal with the monster. It seems like they could decide they are to dangerous and come up with the oxygen destroyer to eliminate them. I don't really see it fitting into this movie too much, seems like the plan is to wake up Rodan, Mothra, and ofc Godzilla then have them fight Ghidorah, but an end credit scene is already confirmed and could very likely tease it for next movie; giving it only an ending cameo but still having it be a plot device for this movie (hence the short yes reply - it's vague but not a lie)
I was only 4 years old when my older brother introduced me to the King of the Monsters himself in my first movie. Godzilla 1985. I grew up liking dinosaurs and seeing on
e that was big, bad, and first breathing at that time was a dream come true. Since then I've gone on to having the whole movie collection and more collectibles in the way.
My first Godzilla movie was Godzilla 2000 when it was released in America when I was a kid. My uncle was a big Godzilla, Gamera, and Ultraman fan growing up so when he saw there was a new, big screen Godzilla movie being released in the US, he showed it to me and my brothers. From the very first opening scene where they're tracking Godzilla, find him, piss him off, and he chases them through the tunnel to his headstrong charge into Orga's open mouth before blowing him up from the inside, we were all hooked. My uncle told us it was a good Godzilla movie, but nothing like the classics. That summer we all watched the original monster movies and since then have all been huge fans. My younger brother still texts me from home whenever any new info comes out about new movies and I even drove home this summer so we could watch City on the Edge of Battle together when it came out. I'm a fan of Godzilla cause it's been a part of my family since I was a kid
We don't have a G jr. in this universe tho so there's no one else to be ready to fight Kong, plus Legendary said Kong will grow more to fight Godzilla.
Don't count Kong out just cause his size either! Godzilla is smaller than King Ghidorah and we will see them square up pretty soon, my money is on the big OG
@andytak3740 kinda similar to your theory but I don't think they'd drop a nuke on them in Boston during their fight. Maybe something else boosts his energy mid fight but in the more realistic Monsterverse they are building I find it hard to believe the government would drop a nuke on it's own soil
It looks like it could be burning Godzilla. If you look carefully, the heat seems to be radiating off of him. The flames spread as he moves forward as if he is so hot everything around him is catching on fire. Seeing as he looks like he's down for the count earlier in the trailer when he's lying in his temple (1:31 in second trailer), my guess is they try to revive him with nuclear energy from a bomb (1:50 in first trailer shows Godzilla's layer with an explosion) which gives him boosted power and could even lead to his enhanced burning mode
I am very interested in seeing what these new monsters are going to be. You can see some sort of a scorpion kaiju and a kaiju that is literally a mountain (or inside the mountain).
Some people say that these could be classic Toho kaiju like Kumonga and Anguirus/Baragon, but that seems VERY unlikely.
Well my point is that I think it's too early to say the CGI is less polished as some of you are saying. You need to see the full film first.
