my personal wishful thinking is Godzilla just absorbs energy in general be it radiation and/or lightning/electricity and has enough to enter burning mode/critical mass and/or just make it something he can do naturally. some people think he is going to be mutated i'm hoping not i'm hoping he just naturally evolves/adapts similar but differently to say Goliath from evolve.
I think they have a enough good writers, the movie plot should be good.
My main concern is making Kong close to, equal to or bigger than the size of Godzilla
Thanks Chris. Finally, a giveaway I can participate in. Go Go Godzilla!
That's correct KingKaijuGojira, no social media accounts required. Just a Scified account!
I don't need a Social Media account for the Giveaways right? Just the Scified account
It seems based on the progression of it all that the 2014 G film wasn't made with the outright intention to make the Monsterverse at all, but rather the inspiration came afterward in light of the continuing success of the MCU and the generally warm reception of G14. The future of the Monsterverse beyond G vs Kong seems wholly dependent on whether or not Toho grants a continuation of the license for Warners and Legendary to use Godzilla at all, because if they don't allow Godzilla to be in anymore American films after the trilogy is completed then frankly I doubt we'll see anymore "Monsterverse" films at all, because without Godzilla as a selling point to continue to connect the films I doubt they'll feel confident in continuing it even with other good monsters to highlight it.
With the combined power of Ghidorah Godzilla and Rodan Kong will have no chance at the crown!
I love Godzilla and Rodan but when Ghidorah came to turn the tide for Reptile dominance in 64 the Earth kings sided with Mothra instead of the true King ... Ghidorah! I am a fierce supporter of Godzilla's crown but I can not defy the Dragons. Godzilla needs to join Ghidorah and Rodan will follow. Mothra needs to stand down. For the record the true Queen of the monsters is Maleficent not Mothra. Let's get her in the monsterverse as Ghidorah's Queen!
My boy Rodan taking y'all to pain town ;)
I wonder of Madison will be similar to Miki Saegusa? She seems to have strong connections to both Mothra and Godzilla, not unlike Saegusa…
If MechaGoji does appear (highly unlikely but plausible) then it would probably be either a foil to Godzilla created by humans (like Mechagoji 2 and Kiryu) or a machine created to fight alongside Goji. I personallly feel as if the former would be more plausible, but the ladder would be nice to have in a movie.
Team Godzilla all the way!!!!!!
I think all of us are hoping for this to happen and I think it will. With the hype over KOTM and GvK, they would be stupid not to continue with the Monsterverse. Hopefully, we could get a Mothra/Rodan solo movie.
The only way would have them fight and then join forces to face a common foe. A movie like this would help gather enough interest to get funding for a Gamera movie.
Or maybe when Godzilla's rights expire on the US side, they could get the rights for Gamera and have a Gamera and Kong movie.
Yeah, that would be difficult. Could you even imagine how much chaos there would be on both sides on who wins?
Maybe Toho will decide to do their own answer to Godzilla vs Kong. And make a deal to do a Godzilla vs Gamera. I wonder if its even possible for Toho to try and buy the rights to Gamera
I am going to be so broke after King of the Monsters comes out, lol.
Fair argument, I thought "hints at" would suffice for insinuating the information is still unknown, though.
The possibility remains however! I for one am hopeful Toho granted rights to Destroyah for use in GvK. They almost need another big bad player in the next film. Kong just doesn't have the same presence as Ghidorah for being Godzilla's final opponent.
That's all fair man, but the article title is still misleading since there's nothing factual about the content directly supporting the claim. Just cautioning against inaccuracy, postulating is fine but reading between the lines and making articles with strong claims that aren't supported by more solid evidence is less so.
Initially the Oxygen Destroyer was thought to have been a mere cameo earlier on in production. The fact that Dougherty is bringing attention to it and confirming it will not be a mere cameo device makes us wonder if it will lead to the creation of Destroyah - because we know it won't kill Godzilla in this film, since he'll be coming back for Godzilla vs. Kong.
Not to mention we've heard murmurs that there is some legitimacy to this possibility. But instead of jumping the gun, I'm simply postulating for now.
Yeah, I hate to say so Chris but this is one of the most deceptively click-baiting things I've seen posted. I would be all for the return of Destroyah, but nothing quoted here explicitly hints at anything more than the device itself being utilized in a meaningful way. Let's not let enthusiasm cloud perceptions until we see something a little more solid.
You know, everyone else is jumping on the Destoroyah hype train, but I'm not so sure this is the case here.
I think we're being a bit premature with this one. Sure, the idea is nice, but I haven't seen anything that would really cater to the idea yet, just hints and teases that are vague enough to mean almost anything.
I'm glad that Dougherty is acknowledging that the Kaiju have personalities. They aren't one dimensional beings. The monsters always have personalities. Godzilla has always had feelings. I'm glad the director included that. I really can't wait for this movie.
Destroyah is the Doomsday we need Godzilla and Kong to team up and fight. I hope Ghidorah turns good and is around to help or at least escaped to outer space with all three heads. No Titan can match Destroyah in evilness. Destroyah is Godzilla's devil and one monster that could get the Dragon and the monkey to join forces. I am however very concerned for my Reptilian heros in the fact that oxygen destroyer confirmed means they could give Godzilla a weakness and it it best not hurt him or that will be upsetting. Trailer looks like oxygen destroyer will send him back to his lair for a nap where Scientists wake him and empower our Lord with a nuke. I can deal with that.
Like I've said before... KK v G will be like a B v S scenario. If Destroyer becomes a player in this monsterverse… then in all likelihood KK will team up with G to fight and kill Destroyer. Of coarse this is only speculation... and there is another villain to challenge Godzilla... Megalon. He would fit right into this monsterverse perfectly given the arc of the whole hollow earth thing... and a battle with him would prove to be a big challenge for Godzilla. There's no jet Jaguar... but Kong would fill those shoes quite nicely in my opinion. Since Megalon was worshipped as a god... in the original film... then it would make sense to put him in this monsterverse.
I'm sure a Hollywood modern day version of him would work... and probably look awesome.
If TOHO... gave the rights to do Megalon… they are not going to spoil it by saying yeah... we did.
My other hunch about a possible villain... would have to be Biollantte. For some reason... these two make sense. Biollante is by far a more terrifying presence on the screen and a modern day take on it would probably look incredible scary... which I'm good with. But my money's on Megalon.
GMAN: Why not?
These sculpts are magnificent, but due to budgetary reasons I'm gonna be sticking to Neca and the Bandai movie monsters series. They'll do for me, but pics of these bad boys will be excellent resources for fanart.
You kinda missed the point on the ending of Rodan, bub. It's a tragic, bittersweet end because while the human characters succeed in protecting themselves and what they cherish, even they seem to understand that it's a pity such magnificent beasts have to perish for that safety. It was the genius of Honda's film making style, giving the beasts heart while still understanding their menace and danger. Rodan doesn't need "fixing", and that's honestly the last word that should need to be said on the subject.
It will be nice to have the God back in Godzilla. I just hope he is a merciful God for Ghidorah and Rodan and though he adopted us all I still want to see his vengeance give us manual destruction and fire on a evacuated city causing lots of property and giant landmark damage but no casualties.
I adopted Lizards in the past and Godzilla was in all of them. He helps with my mourning for proto Dragons and through video games and movies we can all be Godzilla and rule with Dragons. Godzilla is our evolution. In this way I can understand the underlining meaning in shin but they went to far and changed shin away from a Reptile. This is looking like one of the best Godzillas ever and our mighty Dragon Lords also are giving us the best possible outcome! Rodan's fire wings were ingenious and he looks PERFECT! Hibernating in a volcano... Thanks Dough-boy for fixing the end of the first Rodan movie cause that ending blew boats and we all seen the proof. if Ghidorah survives this is gonna be the best but he still also looks PERFECT, could win the crown and even Godzilla would support him. Ether way no matter who is boss they should be friends at the end of the day. Godzilla Rodan and Ghidorah were on the same side before Mothra who defied Godzilla messed up the first impression. Rodan and Godzilla battled for testing power nothing serious. I know Mothra is a cute caterpillar but not that cute to get in a fight with Ghidorah over. Plus she started attacking Ghidorah first. I don't think Ghidorah has a problem with kaiju, probably got messed with by humanoids and decided to smite us all. Looking at humans and Mothra as Godzilla's pets would give him a reason to defend us. This will be the pinnacle of Kaiju and Dragon films if Ghidorah survives with all three heads!
@Riggzamortis86 Dude that doesn't mean the story will be bad. What the other guy described isn't even a story outline! It's just a description of how their basic interactions will go. Just bc they team-up doesn't mean we will get cheated out of the rematch. Their onscreen fight in the original is not that long. They could meet 30min in, beat the shit out of each other for a solid hour, have a clear winner, and then still have to stop something bigger at the end. As long as their fight is good, that's how I'd want the movie to play out. What's better than a GvsK movie with an awesome battle between the 2 iconic titans AND an awesome final battle with another giant monster? Where they begrudgingly have to not hit each other anymore bc another giant monster requires both of their might to stop? That sounds awesome! The story built around the fight and team up could be awesome, don't lose all hope just bc of the setup.
I would love to own both of these figures.
My wallet can't take much more of this!! Hahahaha
So awesome! I can't wait to add them to my collection. Though, I was hoping they would use a different mold for the Atomic Breath effect part. Oh well. But King Ghidorah looks amazing. Especially in flight pose. So cool! :)
The short answer is you have a long way to go.
And technically you only have 11 Godzilla movies. Sony's Toho Godzilla collection includes The Rebirth of Mothra 1 and 2, which aren't technically part of the Godzilla series.
Here's a list of every Godzilla film. The last two have yet to be released of course:
5. Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster
7. Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster
14. Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla
18. Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah
19. Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth
20. Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II
21. Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla
26. Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack
27. Godzilla against MechaGodzilla
30. Godzilla (2014)
31. Shin Godzilla
32. Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters
33. Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle
34. Godzilla: The Planet Eater
35. Godzilla: King of the Monsters
36. Godzilla vs. Kong
Now a lot of these films are out-of-print and hard to find, but hopefully they'll be getting physical releases soon.
Criterion/Janus Films owns Godzilla (1954), Godzilla Raids Again, Mothra vs. Godzilla, Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster, Invasion of Astro-Monster, Son of Godzilla, Destroy All Monsters, All Monsters Attack, Godzilla vs. Megalon, Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla and Terror of MechaGodzilla. But right now only Godzilla (1954) has a physical DVD/Blu-ray release. Fingers crossed that will change soon. The rest are on select streaming services though.
Kraken Releasing owns Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster, Godzilla vs. Hedorah, Godzilla vs. Gigan and The Return of Godzilla. All are available on Blu-ray and DVD.
Universal owns King Kong vs. Godzilla, available on Blu-ray and DVD.
Warner Brothers owns Godzilla (2014) available on Blu-ray and DVD. They will also be responsible for releasing Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong in the future.
Funimation owns Shin Godzilla available on Blu-ray and DVD.
Netflix currently is streaming Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters, Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle and will stream Godzilla: The Planet Eater next month. No word yet on a physical release.
And of course the rest you have are owned by Sony.
Hope this helps.
their needs to be a new Godzilla game for Xbox one.
Wraith0711,
I'm sort of banking on that. I've been holding off on updating this list because I keep expecting some major shift in releases mid-year.
Looks like i'm going to have to get back to building up my Godzilla archive. I pretty much have most of Showa and of the millennium movies on dvd. I just need to buy the Heisei, G98, and Shin Godzilla movies. Oh I also need all of the King Kong movies as well as the other Toho movies.
Hopefully with the netflix anime and new trailers coming out for the new movie there will be some classic bluray releases coming out soon to capitalize on the renewed interest. One can always hope!
