Godzillatheking123,
I'm not disputing that. However, I wouldn't sell China's familiarity with Godzilla short seeing as Toho's films have had wider theatrical releases there than they do in the USA. (Godzilla: Final Wars and Shin Godzilla in particular.)
I think they’re definitely gonna be in the $40-50 range. For release, I’d say maybe somewhere around June-September.
Looking forward to reading it, but I hope it's substantially better than the novelization for the 2014 film, and by that I just mean that it's proof read better. That book was so riddled with grammatical errors and bad sentences that it was distracting from what was otherwise an interesting spin on the characters and their insights.
G. H. (Gman): Transformers did great in China too, but it does not enjoy the level of popularity it has in the West. Same goes for Godzilla. Chinese moviegoers may be curious about a movie with giant monsters hence people went to see the 2014 movie, but the fact remains, they are not as familiar with Godzilla as Western audience.
I want to read it
I love the very happy looking art on these posters, as if we didn't see Rodan destroy an entire village in the trailers. They are great, even if Godzilla looks kinda like Barney the Dinosaur.
That's awesome. But quick question (Well, maybe more like "questions". Sorry).: Is it like a junior novelization, or is that different from this? And is it in the style of a novel, a comic, or a manga? (Btw, is there word of a manga or comic adaptation of the film? And no, I don't mean the prequel novels. I mean the film itself.)
Well, you know what? That is a cool fact, but getting back on track, I think the posters look cool, no matter where they came from. It's awesome. (And yes, this is only my temporary account, and that's because I have school irl and I can't always check the website on my original account without it signing me out on the other device I have it on, hence why I made this while still keeping my MinecraftDinoKaiju MDK account. [That one is my permanent account.] I hope this cleared up the confusion with the "(temporary account)" part of my name on this account. Thanks for reading.)
^Yes and no. The 2014 movie did very well in China. In fact it's one of the big reasons it even hit $500 million worldwide.
Yes, Wanda owns Legendary, after all. Godzilla is not a well-known or popular figure in China, at least compare to the West, so they would need specific marketing to raise the awareness of the big G in China.
I take it that Wanda group has a stake in this movie.
Just post a spoiler alert next time, OP, then problem solved.
Lunar New Year is celebrated in East Asia, so no surprise. Japan used to celebrate the new year at the same time as China and Vietnam, but changed their calendar.
I just noticed that Mothra kinda resembles her classic designs, rather than her KOTM's design.
Membrane,
Yeah. Couldn't help but think the same thing--Not that it's limited to Japan. (Clearly.)
Personally I like these posters not my favorite but I do like them
Hey, Chris. How exactly does the Reputation Boost and XP Boost work? As in, how do you boost your Reputation and your XP?
I still think that Ghidorah will be killed and there will be a threat in the aftermath that Godzilla and Kong will have to face together. As for theater experience... I'm good with just a regular screen. IMAX is not my cup o tea... let alone Screen X
Interesting... considering Godzilla is a Japanese creation.
Call me old fashioned but honestly I don't see the appeal for this, it just sounds like a souped up modern form of Cinemascope which didn't exactly take off either, and what examples I've seen for ScreenX looks like a bit of a headache to watch. If it takes off though more power to them, all I ask for is a decent sized screen with no ghosting (have a lot of problems with that in my area, oddly), good sound and no brainless American teenagers and 20-somethings who don't have social graces and treat the in-theater experience like a frat party.
I wouldn't.
Something that the Monsterverse can do that the MCU hasn't done a lot is KEEP THE VILLAIN ALIVE. It'd actually be an interesting change of pace, having the MONSTER MOVIE of all things be the one to have a recurring villain.
Sadly no theaters in my city support ScreenX, so I might make a trip out of it and hit up one of the bigger neighboring cities like Toronto. I've always loved IMAX and I feel like this will take movie watching to the next level.
As for Ghidorah being killed off, I would assume it's probably a safe bet that he won't be around for Godzilla vs. Kong...
I'm so happy that the newest movie theater in my area has a ScreenX can't wait to see King of the Monsters with it!
Note: THESE ARE OFFICIAL POSTERS
This type of screening sounds interesting. However, if I can't find a theater that supports it, I'll settle for IMAX
@Tiamatzilla. I doubt Ghidorah will be killed. But I doubt even more that he would submit to Godzilla. They've hated each other for so very long. Godzilla and Ghidorah will never see eye to eye.
@Tiamatzilla, “All Dragons are invincible” you say. Tell that to Smaug, Alduin, the Red Death, The Showa/Heisei/Millennium King Ghidorahs, Malefor, Ridley, Jabberwocky, The Bewilderbeast and hundreds of other dragons I didn’t mention that died on screen.
Doughherty please don't kill King Ghidorah, Rodan or less likely Godzilla. Mothra can be reincarnated but it would still be a bummer to kill her off, still she is way out of her league and needs to retreat. Fighting these Dragons is death to mortals. Ghidorah should submit to Godzilla or retreat without being mutilated. All Dragons are invincible. Remember that. Please!
Cute. I like these.
Awesome. My head would explode if I actually got to do that
Yeah, are these official material? If so can you provide a link so I can get these front paged?
Are these officially licensed posters?
WOW
Thats so COOL
I'm looking forward to what they do with the monsters, what they will do for the human characters, and seeing whether or not if it is objectively good (Anybody here know the reference?), and I'm looking forward to how they will set up GvK in 2020 at the end of this movie. Also, welcome to the website. Enjoy your stay.
Well, this topic is interesting, so I'll say my opinion on it: I don't think that was about him, but maybe it could be a thing in the Monsterverse if they ever bring it up. Also, yes, I'm finally back (Who missed me?), yes, I'm #TeamGodzilla, and yes, I will update my profile picture to an official one, but only after KOTM comes out and when high-quality images are available.
Honestly I look forward to at lot of things but what I’m looking forward to the most would be the monsters. I’m curious to see how they are going to be executed in the film. Plus I’m trying to avoid spoilers of the designs of the the other monsters appearing in the film, besides the original four.
