It never seemed too unclear to me, but that's neither here nor there, I accounted for that in my explanation. Point being, the circumstances surrounding Burning Godzilla mode were unique and replicating them every movie would be ridiculous, so in my opinion the stakes can still be real without it.

I agree with everyone. I think it is the angle of the shot and the poor picture quality. They did a fantasic job with the dorsal plates in KOTM. I can't imagine them changing again, even in size.

A weapon used by supernatural beings doesn't mean it's inherently supernatural. I mean, a ghost picking up a knife doesn't make the knife supernatural. Hell, depending on your definition of supernatural, by this logic, Sam's alien weapons are supernatural.

Well, MOST people wouldn't have realized Godzilla was radioactive as that was classified Monarch information. Godzilla might not have been releasing as much radiation at the time due to being half dead, but even the general area would be pretty radioactive. Hell, even in that scene you can see people in Hazmat suits, just not Serizawa. And seeing as we don't know how long he was there, he might have only been there for a few minutes.

First of all, just because he has higher amounts of radiation doesn't mean he's going to nuke everyone. Second of all, how the hell would they get his RADIOACTIVE blood for sampling mid fight? Third of all, the reason the people managed to escape the nuclear pulse is because they already started flying a few minutes before Godzilla got up again. By the time he used his nuclear pulse, Emma had already driven from far outside the city to basically right to the center. Also, EMMA couldn't escape the blast, so... yeah, Sam couldn't really escape it.

Yeah, SOMETHING, but that doesn't mean nuking everybody. It could just mean he's more durable. It could mean he's faster. It could mean he has a more powerful Atomic Breath. It could even mean he got telekinesis, they wouldn't know!

Ugh-Zan is made of thin, albeit tough, layers of metal. Godzilla has an incredibly thick hide, even in his weak points. Besides that, seeing how even Ghidorah's Gravity Beams couldn't pierce that hide and were designed for drilling, I don't think a cannon (which are typically weaker than missiles, which have been shown to have little effect on Godzilla) would be able to do much against him. 

The aesthetic is definitely still along the same lines as KOTM's take, but I gotta agree that the angle is throwing off proper measurement.

Friendly reminder that it took a nuke and Mothra sacrificing herself to instigate Burning mode in the MV. Mothra's dead and nukes aren't safe aboveground, so the stakes can still be real with smaller threats because Godzilla doesn't have his ace-in-the-hole to solve the problem. Also Ghidorah isn't as much of an invincible entity as we all like to think, he's had his twin tails handed to him every time he shows up, often twice in the same movie. Him showing up in the third installment isn't too far off from the Showa and Heisei series.

But yes, let's talk more about the clip at hand, I'd much rather do that. :P For example: his face looks a lot better here than the poster, the beard really seems to fit with the new design and the mouth doesn't seem as odd.

The SBC Cannon was designed by Mental's forces, it's not a normal artillery cannon, it shoots cannonballs BIGGER than the barrel. My assumption about that could injure godzilla was based on the fact that it's bullets could damage Ugh-Zan in the first place, i highly suggest you to watch the final boss battle of serious sam 3 to understand what i mean about the cannon and Ugh-Zan force : https://youtu.be/lbvK-ONSrt8?t=561

Might just be the angle. I don't see why they'd make his dorsal spines so small. Unless that's some other kind of Godzilla, like Godzilla Junior in Godzilla V.S. Destoroyah. But I still doubt it...

I'm pretty sure it's the angle. One thing that I did notice that they changed is that the tip of his tail is now back to the tapered end that 2014 had as opposed to the more blunt, rounded end that KOTM had.

And I'm honestly glad for that. The tapered look is a lot better, IMO.

And besides, the MonsterVerse probably isn't going to last that long anyway. I'm pretty sure the original plan only went up to Godzilla vs Kong.

I guess I can understand where you're coming from. Still love that scene, though, and I don't feel it was wasted. But I do understand where you're coming from.

And I'll freely admit, if I was writing the MonsterVerse, I would have saved Ghidorah for, like, the last movie in the series.

Although...there was something I saw a while back that kind of stuck out to me. Ghidorah can regenerate his body like a mythological hydra, right? From what I remember, the best way to kill a hydra is to burn it. Given the MonsterVerse's penchant for tying it's creatures back to ancient myths, I can't help but wonder if that's what they were trying to go for.

But whatever. I think we're drifting. Big dinosaur fights big monkey on a big boat. Let's talk about that. :)

I mean, Burning Godzilla is basically Godzilla's ultimate form, and it has such weight to the name. ESPECIALLY when he died because of that form. But they used it in the SECOND movie. Look, I don't have a problem with them changing the form from it's original intentions, but I do have a problem they used it already. You know why? Because A. He had to use it against GHIDORAH, so god help him WHEN he fights something stronger and B. Since if the studios want to keep the fans interested, they have to raise the stakes with each film. Like how in Avengers they originally had to save the world, but in Endgame they had to save the WHOLE Universe, and now there's talks of them having to save the MULTIverse. People want to see NEW and more EXCITING stuff every film, and the best way to do that is to raise the stakes in every film. Hell, you can kinda even see that in the Heisei era. However, when you use Godzilla's most powerful form in the second movie, every creature afterwards is going to have to exceed Ghidorah's strength, or match Burning's strength if they want to keep things interesting. So then, they need to either REALLY supe up Godzilla, bring in Burning EVERY movie, or have the movies be less interesting to the main stream since the stakes would have gone down hill. Now, people are going to expect creatures stronger than Ghidorah, and if Godzilla could only beat Ghidorah with his Burning form... then things aren't going to look very well for Godzilla unless he can achieve his Burning form every movie, which is uninteresting and low stakes as hell. The writers kinda screwed themselves over. Think how everyone was pissed that they used Superman's death in the second movie to have Superman. Unlike in the comics, where it was a HUGE deal and everyone thought he's dead, everyone knew Supes was coming back because it was the second movie. Even if they didn't know he was coming back, they didn't have enough time to be attached to the character to worry about him, and now the stakes have to be raised every film to the point of SUPERMAN'S DEATH. In KOTM, it's similar. We don't get to feel how much more powerful Burning Godzilla is because he's only on screen for 2 minutes at the end of the second movie. Hell, we don't even have a great feel for Godzilla's strength normally, let alone BURNING Godzilla. And now that there have to be creatures WORSE than Ghidorah, it's not going to end well for Godzilla because he could barely handle Ghidorah.

ALTERNATE THEORY: The two are on opposite sides of the boat, Godzilla is setting one foot onto it, and Kong will leap over it to deliver the punch. Kong only looks as tall as Goji due to perspective.

Well, I'm excited! Also yes, Godzilla is clearly straightening up, look at where his knee would be and the water falling off the base of his tail onto the carrier.

TheGMan123 Godzilla's about 390-400 feet tall at this point, so that sounds about right.

I like how this brief clip also showed a great comparison of how big Kong is in relation to Godzilla. The original leak said he was maybe around a head shorter than Godzilla, which is showcased well here.

Godzilla is straightening up, while Kong is tiptoeing a bit as he prepares to punch Godzilla. So where would this put Kong's height? Maybe about 320-350 feet tall?

That is one well made aircraft carrier if it can support two fully grown monsters fighting on it. I'm really excited now. Hopefully we'll get a trailer soon.

MinecraftDinoKaiju There was a leak a while back that said, among other things (one of those things being that Godzilla and Kong would fight atop an aircraft carrier like they do in the footage), that there would be a scene of a new Ghidorah chained up in a cave like the dragon from The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad or something.

Given that it's supposed to be Ghidorah of all creatures, I think you can guess where our concerns lie.

I think that's where they almost went with 1998, and you all know the reception of that film.

This was an awesome fight. I can't wait to see what's next. (Maybe a Shin Godzilla vs. Symphogear next? [Once the actual Godzilla vs. Symphogear comes out, of course.])

TheLazyFish I dunno, I don't feel Burning Godzilla was wasted. If anything, I think the Chen sisters being the Shobijin of the MonsterVerse was an even bigger waste. And at least the Oxygen Destroyer actually had a part in the narrative.

Nice, but I do suggest that you show the effect of Godzilla's radiation on Tokyo to make it have an impact similar to the first film. It reminds me of Shin Godzilla, the 1954 original, and Godzilla Raids Again for some reason.

Yeah, after they wasted the oxygen destroyer and Burning Godzilla in KOTM... they really need to write GVK well. I loved KOTM, but... if this series is to survive, they need to do GVK really well

TheLazyFish At a second glance, it kind of looks like Godzilla still has one foot in the water. Maybe the ship's listing to the side under his weight and Kong only looks bigger because he (and pardon the Star Wars reference) has the higher ground?

It could be a new super boat, ala, Gotengo. It could be a boat washed ashore they're crunching on. It could just be the port. We don't know the context yet.

But seeing how the Monsterverse is all about that fan service now, I'm hoping it's the return of the most durable superstructure in the entire franchise!

I just feel this movie needs to be really good to succeed. The late Showa Era has more of an excuse cause they had really good films before they started becoming less focused on good writing. But the Monsterverse is still in it’s young stage, and I feel it needs to really succeed before it can survive with mediocre writing.

The reason I was apologizing was because of a comment made by G.H. (Gman) to me a while back in which he disagreed that Godzilla: The Animated Series wasn't decent.
