SarcasticGoji,
You're mistaken. Keiji Ota specifically said that Shin Godzilla was not a conducive movie to build a cinematic universe around. Here's his exact quote from 2018:
"'Shin Godzilla' was a huge hit, but instead of thinking of doing the obvious idea of making a 'Shin Godzilla 2', instead think about a world that can be used for a long time, I'd rather make a World of Godzilla." [Source 1, Source 2]
Shin Godzilla 2 was not cancelled, because there were never any plans to make it, nor was there an official announcement. English news outlets mistranslated much of the information and misconstrued what Mr. Ota was explaining.
Cool figure, though I still am sad they stopped making Godzilla figures. Their last figures: Bio Goji and Kiryu Goji were phenomenal. The quality of the figures had grown so much from their first Godzilla figures back in 2014, and they were the only thing that rivaled Bandai's SH Monster Arts line in quality and articulation for a quarter of the price.
I became a Godzilla fan by watching Godzilla Vs MechaGodzilla. Every time they made a new Godzilla movie I would spend my money and watch it!
@Gman
He said they planned to make a Cinematic universe, that included Shin Godzilla. I know that the movie was cancelled but the Universe has not been reported to. But thank you for the note anyway
I was just thinking of making a fanfiction where space colonizing humans created an army of mechakaiju
JonahLee-France,
Toho wants to look forward.
Although it would be cool for Toho to bring back old story lines and continuities like Tsuburaya has done for Ultraman, they don't seem to have any interest in that.
Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. flopped in Japan and was the second least attended film of the Millennium series. Toho was already considering shutting the series down after Godzilla x Megaguirus flopped, but the fact Tokyo S.O.S. did worse makes the prospect of them picking up a story line from that film unlikely.
GMK was the most successful Godzilla film of the Millennium series and I'd love to see a sequel, but the film is 20 years old. I think our best hope is that Shusuke Kaneko come back someday to direct another film, albeit, in a new continuity. As of 2007 he was still open to returning.
SarcasticGoji,
The current producer of the Toho Godzilla series, Keiji Ota, stated in 2018 that they will not make a sequel to Shin Godzilla, even though it was incredibly successful. Instead they have an idea for a cinematic universe of their own. Whether or not this will materialize is yet to be seen or officially announced in any capacity.
First Comment, But I like the idea, unfortunately I think Toho wants to continue with Shin Godzilla.
First Comment
Alright, so I'm back from like a year of inactivity to just say... what the fuck? What the fuck is going on in the visitor's comment section. Like... what the fuck? How is that even allowed? This was NOT a fucking thing when I was here. At least, I don't think it was. Either way, that shit should not be allowed wtf.
I love watching people positively react to things I love
It's one of the best original pieces in the movie for sure. Though I still much prefer Ifukube's Rodan theme.
SarcasticGoji,
Hence why I said Godzilla vs. Kong is the last planned film in the Monsterverse.
Which leads to the interesting shift in platform. I have no interest in any further Monsterverse films, as they kinda burnt out quickly--Not that they had a whole lot to go back to anyway. But the continuation as an anime series of various types does intrigue me more. It wouldn't shock me if the Skull Island series ends up being the best and most immersive of the Monsterverse stories.
Hi im Jonah Im 17 been a fan since i was little i was adopted, i didn't have much as a child. The first Godzilla i watched was Gmk which was my favorite as Godzilla was menacing and the story was great.Other movies were great like Godzilla 2000, Godzilla 1992 and i'love to start discussions and maybe get Toho attention to bring back The Heisei or give a sequel to Gmk or Tokyo sos. But i dont want sound desperate but i wish someone can hook me up with theater exclusive bandai figure as i didnt have a figure to have on the shelve, ill be very gratefully for whoever can help me :)
Apex is the evil organization I believe. Yes he is targeting them and supposedly killing innocent people as well, so the trailer kind of depicts.
"Oh its beautiful"
I hope they continue the monsterverse
I like all the monsterverse monster designs
Umm, Actaully It says Godzilla is specifically targeting the Evil Organization (don’t remember what they’re called), in one of the background’s of course. I think I’ve seen the same breakdowns
You say some interesting points, I agree that it is good, but Masterpiece is a very strong word. I would call it a great peice of artwork, but not a masterpiece. What many people call classical music, is actually just Orchestral and Symphonic, or Choral. Classical only refers to music in the same style as Mozart, so Beethoven and Tchaikovsky and Brahms are not classical. The reason I bring this up, is because much of Movie music is “Classical” really meaning orchestral. So comparing Rodan’s Theme (which is Orchestral) against something Louie Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, is not very fair. But then again anything can be considered a masterpiece in its own right.
its confirmed its not camazotz creatures but a new 1 called hellhawk
Camazotz, also dubbed Titanus Camazotz, is a giant bat-like daikaiju created by Legendary Pictures for the MonsterVerse, that will appear in GvK: Kingdom Kong, in which he will fight Kong before the events of Godzilla vs. Kong Upsers
hawk4117,
It likely wasn't the writers' idea. It's more likely the studio and Toho mandated the writers use MechaGodzilla because he's one of Godzilla's most marketable foes.
So I have probably read most of the breakdowns on the latest G vs K trailer, and I have processed it in my own way. To me it just seems ludicrous for Godzilla to be the Mecha-G in disguise! I would much rather him be mind controlled by the Mecha instead. After all the movie is titled Godzilla vs Kong! Now I aggree it does appear that Mecha-G did make an apperance in the beginning of the trailer (No disguise!) , but was it the beginning of the movie or towards the end? Guess it doesn’t matter, but I surmise that the Mecha-G has some kind of hybrid type orca that can actually tap into Godzilla’s head and alter his behavior. Personally and yes this is a biased statement being a total Godzilla fan but I didn’t like the trailer and how it depicted Godzilla being the bad guy right off the bat, and how they made Kong out to be the total goodie toe shoes good guy! Het there’s been numerous movies about Godzilla being the good guy too! lol I also think they made a bad decision in bringing in the Mecha-G in this movie anyways! If the writers really wanted a Mecha, they should have brought in Mecha- King Ghidorah instead! That would have made more sense to me. Well, there ya go. Peace out!

Just found out the HBOMax series was just a rumour.
Good.
HellHawk is a catchy name.
kill it
kill it now
Honestly I personally feel that the name Warbat better suits this creature.
It's cute and has big feet
Actually, Yes! Maybe not films, but HBO Max has announced a Monarch Tv Show, and A Skull island Anime has been announced, both of which will be connected to the Monsterverse Universe. Remember, Monsterverse is not just Movies, but the comics also.
I hated the Godzilla 2014 spikes aswell.
Oh look. My first and only post in this thread turned out to be true. Imagine that.
As of today Godzilla vs. Kong is the last planned film in the Monsterverse. There are currently no plans for anything after.
This could potentially change in the future, although in all likelihood it depends on how well Godzilla vs. Kong performs.
I really liked all the designs & I agree with Rodan's roar. I didn't like Godzilla's 2014 spikes design.
