That monologue from the trailer was just a quote from some1 on the Manhattan project as godzilla being a byproduct of some type of nuclear energy matched that well. He\'s not going to be coined the \"Destroyer of Worlds\" now.
People are reading way to much into that trailer.

Eh, I guess I'd rather see Bagan make an appearance than Ghidorah, Mothra, MechaG, or either Kumonga or Kamacuras.
But besides those 5 he's pretty low on my list of monsters I'd like to see incorperated into a Legendary movie

I'm fairly certain there will always be more Godzilla movies. Even if the Legendary movie fails I'd bank on more being made in the future. It might be 20-30 years later, but at some point someone will come around and make another. It's a time defying franchise.

Just to clear up any misunderstanding, I did not draw this picture. This is Toho's concept art for the original design for Bagan in the 1980s. (Although I do beleive a fan site colored it.) Can't say I love it either, but it's still more interesting than the later design.

ah yea the reason why I like Godzilla
well It all started when i was a little boy, my father would always tell me about how huge the beast was and how incredible th monster was. When I was 8 years old my father took me to a flea market and there were 2 Godzilla films on VHS. Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla and Godzilla 1985. Godzilla 1985 scared the piss out of me when i first watched it. Then I watched Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. I was so amazed how much fighting there is in the film i was automaticly hooked! Then later i use to rent Godzilla vs Biollante and that was the scariest movie i saw because of how monstrous Biollante is. Then I saw Godzilla 2000, and well since then i was hooked like hell.

@XXSABERBLACKCROW: I too hope the CGI is cool/well done. I knew it was a matter of time before someone picked Gigan. He seems a tricky one to do, but I think I have a good realistic counterpart.
Classic Toho Monster #7: Gigan
Species: Alien Cyborg
Height: 120 Meters
Abilities: Flight at mach 3; can fire a Cluster Light Ray from its eye; claws; buzzsaw in abdomen; blades instead of hands; able to fire two grappling cables from each blade-hand.
My Legendary Pictures Counterpart: [No Name Yet]
Species: Modified Mononykus/Draco volans +cyborgnetic parts
Height: Same as 2014 American Godzilla
Abilities and Reason for Species choices: A lot of the mechanical aspects can be done thanks to modern technology (okay, laser weapons are still a bit tricky for us to do). However, it needs a body of some kind to avoid being a robot. The dinosaur known as Mononykus has arms so bizarre that I didn't believe it myslef when I first heard of it. In a nutshell, this 3' dino has a spike at the end of each arm, no hands in sight! They use it to go after ant/termite mounds. This would be a great starting point to have it be genetically modified to have longer, stronger, and sharper "blades". Lots of genetics would be needed to have it upright naturally. The Draco volans (Flying Dragon) lizard provides an interesting side for the flight aspect. They glide on wings that fold out from the sides of the body (better protection than mthyical dragon wing placements). This would not only make our Gigan counterpart more reptillian, but also provide a cool cyborg flight aspect. The special wings (Mach speed capable) would come out from the sides (protect at the time thanks to the cyborg armor). The buzzsaw underbelly can still be there, but instead of 1 buzzsaw how about the whole underbelly are rows of them! Scientists have made materials much sharper than diamonds, and stuff stronger yet lighter that bulletproof armor. I think they could make super sharp buzzsaws to slice into Godzilla. Maybe a protective "chest plate" slides back to reveal the buzzsaws of death.

@COOLGODZILLA1234: Orga coming right up!
Classic Toho Monster #6: Orga
Species: Gojira/Millennian hybrid
Height: 70 meters
Abilities: Huge claws; can fire beam from its shoulder cannon; extraordinary jumper; extremely fast healing factor; can pilot its UFO through telepathy and control cables that the UFO implants; able to absorb powers and appearances through consumption.
My Legendary Pictures Counterpart: [No Name Yet]
Species: Pelican eel, 2014 American Godzilla, Orangutan, modified Angler Fish, modified Electric Eel
Height: Same as 2014 American Godzilla
Abilities: Laser guided Lightning (shot from mouth); extremely strong (especially the long arms); mouth can open really wide; 2014 American Godzilla defensive abilities.
Reason for Species choices: The Pelican Eel can really open its mouth, to the same amount/degree as Orga. Orga was a hybrid of Gojira, so the realistic LP counterpart would be part 2014 American Godzilla. Orangutans are known to have long, strong arms so I choose them to represent this aspect of Orga. The modified Angler Fish/Electric Eel is to mimic a biological version of a Lightning Gun (http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2012/06/27/army-looks-to-strike-foes-with-lightning-weapon/ ). This is a laser guided lighting bolt, so a ANgler Fish lure could be modifed to be a bio-laser to guide the Electric Eel electricity (modified) to be a lightning beam!

@DINOBOY22: 1 Baragon converted into a realistic version for Legendary Pictures coming right up!
Classic Toho Monster #5: Baragon
Species: Subterranean Reptile
Length: 40 Meters
Height: 25 Meters
Abilities: Burrowing, extremely hot fire breath, extremely good jumper, very strong claws.
My Legendary Pictures Counterpart:[No Name Yet]
Species: Armadillo Girdled Lizard/Rhinoceros/Rabbit hybrid
Length: 50 Meters
Height: 25 Meters
Abilities: Burrowing, extremely hot fire breath, extremely good jumper, very strong claws.
Reason for animal choices: Baragon was a reptile, so it makes sense to start there. A good burrowing reptile plus armored is the Armadillo Girdled Lizard. Mix that with a Rabbit and you would get a reptile tht can burrow, have the same type of ears that Baragon has, and can jump very well. Finally mix that with the horn and strength of a Rhinoceros and this creature would be one very tough monster in a brawl. Science has explored the possibilities of an animal being able to breath fire so this can be realistically added. Maybe something internal to cranck up the temp to make it dangerous.

You know that Bagan was first created for the Return of Godzilla/Godzilla 1985 script? He didn't look anything like the fan art that's been posted here. In The Return of Godzilla he was a actually three monsters that combined into one. He looked goofy as hell, but he was at least more interesting than the one in Super Godzilla:

Yup, that's the original Bagan. He was scrapped for The Return of Godzilla, a solo Mothra movie that was going be called Mothra vs. Bagan and finally Godzilla vs. Destroyah. Three chances. All failed.

GorosaurGodzilla 2014 ForumShould Bagan be in a Godzilla sequel? Or in the last Legendary Godzilla film? Nov 30, 2013Reply
For a while I thought that Bagan would be perfect for the movie because he blends the past of Godzilla while not getting bogged down in rules, history, and other things that were decided long before the director was born. You could basically do anything with Bagan because.. he's never been used. He's just a name. The only thing that has remained consistent through his iterations (in scripts and games) is his size and having a horn.
I made the image below to try and illustrate how large this new Godzilla could be. Dwarfing Bagan (or Biollante, KG, or Destoroyah) would really put this Godzilla in a league of his own.

@GOJIRA2K: Glad you like my stuff so far. I haven't tried drawing my monster concepts yet, but would be great to do so in the future. First I wanted the forum folk's opinion about my designs to review them and see if they had any critics to point out.
Converting Biollante to a realistic LP counterpart, an interesting request. Let's see how I'm going to do this. *Some time later*... alright I think I have a good realistic counterpart to Biollante for you. What do you think?
Classic Toho Monster #4: Biollante
Species: Mutated Rose/Human/Gojira Hybrid
Height (final form): 120 Meters (393')
Abilities: In her final form, she could walk around; had a Mosasaurus-like head; acidic sap (which can be used as a spray from the mouth); snapping vines; and can break apart into a golden energy to go into the atmosphere to heal.
My Legendary Pictures Counterpart: [No Name Yet]
Species: Genetically created hybrid of the Firestick Cactus, a deep sea predatory worm; the growth genetics of redwoods; and a anaconda.
Length: 800 meters
Height: 40 Meters
Abilities and reason for choices: Now Biollante's convertion to energy I don't think I can realistically capture. After all I haven't heard of a real life animal changing to energy and back again. However, a plant-like monster I can do. Real Life plants don't move much, other than the "mouth" of the Venus Flytrap for example. However, we do have animals that have plant-like traits! Elysia chlorotica is a sea slug who's body is leaf shaped and (most of the time) draws energy from the same sources as plants. Scientists could, in theory, genetically create a monster that's part plant/part animal. Now for an acidic sap, in real life we have the Firestick Cactus who's sap are described as "corrosive, irritating, or toxic". This could be genetically modified to be even more corrosive. Origin story would be this monster was supposed to be a weapon of war. Sneeking the burrowing worm-like monster to a strategic location. Its top half resemble a bush or small plants, at least when the thing was human sized. Thanks to worms having a "vibration sensor", they could (again through genetics) be trained to go after unsuspecting enemy soldiers that approached the "plant". However, the growth genetics of a redwood was accidentally introduced instead of a much smaller tree resulting in a Kaiju-sized monster (over time of course). This monster can constrict, spray an acid sap, and even fool local inhabitants into thinking its top half is a valley/forest (when in stealth mode, food is brought down through 'secondary mouths' hidden along the back).

Legendary and Gareth Edwards wouldn't even THINK about something as silly as this! It has to be understood (at some point) that there will NO campy, Toho-licensed creatures in this reboot OR it's sequels (if any); box-office suicide, besides the fact that Legendary wouldn't even consider funding something like that...

We don't know yet. People on Tohokingdom have stated that the drawings of the insect-like creature are slightly inaccurate, as they are not 100% spot on. The thing in the trailer apprently had a wide membrane on its back, hinting at wings. So the winged muto is possibly the thing in this year's trailer.

See? There it is again. Someone else calling Bagan, "Godzilla's greatest enemy." Why? Because he was the final boss in a video game? Because he's big, ugly and has lots of lasers? He's never been in a Godzilla movie so how is he possibly Godzilla's greatest enemy?
Godzilla's taken on King Ghidorah, Mothra and Mecha-Godzilla so often that perhaps one of them is his "greatest enemy", but Bagan? That makes no sense. He's one of Godzilla's most forgettable enemies.
And I'm not sure who you're pointing out that claimed Bagan had no origin. Yes he has an origin and yes I knew of it. Making claims about people that aren't true is quite unwise even on forums. Regardless, while the concept is kind of cool it lacks any originality. The Godzilla series has already dealt with combining Godzilla cells with other lifeforms in Godzilla vs. Biollante. It was nailed pretty thoroughly in the movie, so what? We're going to do it again now? Furthermore, the entire idea just wouldn't work in the more grounded universe that Gareth Edwards is going for. It just sounds too far out there for the Legendary Godzilla movies-- hence why his origin would have be altered.
InstinctiveGiganGodzilla 2014 ForumShould Bagan be in a Godzilla sequel? Or in the last Legendary Godzilla film? Nov 30, 2013Reply
@KENG2K Lol I don't care about his origin story because I don't like him-like at all. Disliking one monster among an entire library of Godzilla monsters makes someone a shameful Godzilla fan? Are you kidding me? The one who goes and labels people as non-fans like you are the ones that should be ashamed. Gabara is the most shitty Godzilla monster ever, but cuz I choose not to research everything about him I don't deserve the title Godzilla fan? Beautiful logic. That's like calling someone a bad Star Wars fan for not knowing every pointless character in the background scenes, it's stupid.
Akio123Godzilla 2014 ForumHow would you want Godzilla (2014) to start?Nov 30, 2013Reply
In my personal opinion. I think it'd be best if it starts off completely opposite to Pacific Rim. If its suspensful, dark and quite realistic regarding Godzilla. A paced start would work best. I mean, I want to see how the world would react to such a thing. A titan sized animal who suddenly appreared would be scary. If its executed right, a slow artsitic start would benefit and not hurt the movie. Im sick of all these, "OK HERES THE ACTION BOOM!" start offs of movies. I want story telling. You can still be epic while having a solid story. Also hearing about some scenes taking place in 54 is a very interesting concept. Im wondering how that will tie in. If we are PROPERLY introduced to the monster, it'll be more spectacular. We could be frightened and love him at the same time. Of course we love Godzilla anyways because we're fans, but thats different. Pacific Rim was a different movie. It's straight forward action was great and all, but I literally did NOT care about any of the characters, or even the monsters really because the origin was forced on in 3 minutes. And how in the world do people "Move on" after a 300 foot monster that took multiple days to kill and decimated cities? lol Like it wasn't a big deal. But that's just me.

1 HE,S NOT A CLASSIC GODZILLA MONSTER!
2 he,s just a monster from a game
3 Destroyah looks way more better then Bagon why will Destroyah,s horn is more better and Has a great roar
4 You are taking Bagon too seriuslly and also Bagon will never be in a Godzilla movie becuase Edwards wants new monsters and also make The Classic Godzilla and he wants the Godzilla fans too enjoy them
and 5 Bagon does not have a origin
and also he,s not going too become Godzilla,s Most toughest enemy
and also im A true G fan
it doesn,t matter if Bagon is not going too be in the New Godzilla movies the point is Godzilla is back he,s going too start a new series of movies he,s going too fight new and his older enemy,s so you guys should be happy about the squeal not be mad about this monster from a game being in the new movies.

Wow, guys lighten up... you should all be ashamed to call yourselves Godzilla fans! I read through all of the bickering, arguing, and complaining and not one of you "fanboys"know the origin of Bagan! Some of you even said he had no origin! Pathetic! In the game it was explained that he was created by fusing cells from Godzilla himself and the legendary King Ghidorah. The, imho, is a badass origin. And he is Godzilla's greatest enemy. No, i do not want to ever see Super Godzilla hit the screen... the concept is cheesy.
