I'll help with this. I'm going to try and take as much personal favoritism and bias out of this response as I can.

1. Godzilla (1954)

2. Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964)

3. Monster Zero (1965)

4. Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster (1964)

They wouldn't necessarily be my top favorites, but I think those are probably amongst the series best in terms of directorial style, characters, story creativity and the movies that the rest of the series take the most ques from. If you wanted to throw some modern films in the mix to shake things up a bit I think Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989) and Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (2001) probably represent the peak of artistic sensibilities in the latter eras.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but even Gareth himself said that we as humans always have that fear of a threat, like something is coming to get us, from us being in grass huts the incarnated fear was smaller and as our huts turn into skyscrapers, the fear of that threat grows. I think he nailed it on the head.

Now that I think about it I would put Knifehead in my favorite Kaiju list. Maybe under Otachi and King Ghidorah, but all under Godzilla (Especially the 2014 design)!

It must be the 8 legged one unless they both decide to go to Vegas.  I can't really make out anything apart from its leftmost leg.

Yeah, topics like this tend not to get a lot of attention.

I have a feeling this might have been from the design the new 3dIMAX poster contest but even if it's not it is a fantastic poster.

It's the winged Muto, just look how it moves, it's stride is very remanicent of Otachi from Pacific Rim, and as it walks in the trailer you can see the membrane that should be it's wing flexing as it walks.

Just to comment on the three MUTOs theory, even if you look at the Nerdreaction image, the winged muto and the muto in the airport scene are identical. You can see that the winged muto toy and the muto at the airport scene have the same legs and wings. Perhaps it was in that larva shell seen in a TV spot, it busts out and starts to grow to the size of the flying muto seen in the bay battle scene. 

Is that the Eight-Legged Muto, or the Winged Muto? When it's moving, it looks like it's the eight-legged, but the screenshot makes it look like it's Winged. :O

Well as someone who watched the wondercon footage like 20 times when it was out, the simple answer is, yes that is the muto biteing the train, in fact in one of the full length trailers you can see the muto lineing up its head right in front of the tram, and then the rest of the scene is it demoloshing the tram as it bites it.

In fact heres the sequence of events in order.

Here the Muto is lineing up to strike the tram.

In this picture you can clearly see out the front window of the tram is the Muto's mouth/gums/tongue.

Here the Muto has just bitten the tram.

Then it rips it's mouth away tearing the tram in half.

And that is a complete rundown of the scene.

Ah ok I've found some pictures where it was circled by someone.   I think that's the back corner of its jaw. 

based on the whopping TWO opinions I got, I'll do the battles mainly... but I'll spend alot of time picking out candidates to challenge the king himself... I'll space em out, too, thanks for the advice, guys!

It's on the picture at the top on the top right of the Muto in that picture there is a black spot that looked to me like an eye, not sure what it actually is now

AtomicBlast, I'm not sure where you mean.

Isn't this nitpicking? I mean, I'm no engineer by any stretch, but the water's not deep enough to have enough pressure to crack glass at that depth. Plus, the water's direction is not causing it to crash up against it, it's coming in at a side angle.

Most "Vs threads" have already been posted, you just have to dig them up

It would be fun to see more GODZILLA VS... posts, but I would post them with plenty of time between. One every so often. Let the debates run themselves dry and then bring in a new one till it runs dry.

Yes, movies aren't typically screened for critics a week or two before the movie's release and even then there's a critic embargo that Legendary /WB keeps. If critics break that embargo they aren't invited to future screenings. Chances are we won't see official reviews until a week before release. Why get worried about this now?
