Of course he won‘t die. Maybe Legendary will trick us in the movie...that there will be a short moment when we shall think he is dead...shock moment. By the way...He must fight Kong in the 2020 movie. My guess: Mothra will die, and KG 100%
Another new chapter. Final battle continues.
I would thoroughly enjoy seeing Gigan in another Godzilla movie! I really enjoyed the cybernetically enhanced version of him in the Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters game.
As far as Biollante, I think we could almost expect them to keep the same profile as the movie from 89. From the way the recent Godzilla movies are, humans play a bigggg role like they always have, and its almost expected for us to try to create something to destroy Godzilla.
I mean, honestly in my opinion it would make sense if he was using his wings as support, or as arms. He's quite large and I couldn't imagine trying to support his weight with the stubby little legs he used to have, (I've only seen the trailer twice.) Just feel like for weight distribution purposes, and how large his wings are, it would make some sense.
I really enjoy the image of Mechagodzilla I got in my head after reading these ideas! The eyes would be a great little detail!
I pretty much agree with KaijuWorld.
Honestly, I can't see it.
It looks more like he's getting off the ground like a particularly large bird. They don't use their wings along the ground to do this, either, they just keep running and flapping until they start to lift off.
Artemisace,
Here's the G-Fest panel with Shin Godzilla co-director/special effects director Shinji Higuchi where he explains that the contract with Toho ends in 2020: Click here.
Additionally here's an article from The Hollywood Reporter that mentions the contract ends in 2020. It's brought up at the bottom of the article: Click here.
I still haven't found where the contracts are expiring next year. But who knows. As for Destroyah I think it's way to early for something like that. Maybe after we've had a few more movies and some faction thinks that the monsters need to be taken care of permanently or something. But until then it's just to early for Destroyah, in my opinion. Oh and on the rights thing, as long as these movies continue to make boatloads of money I'm sure Toho will continue to let Legendary keep going.
We do see King Ghidorah use his wings as support in the trailer twice. You mentioned one but the other was when we saw that cool full body shot of King Ghidorah. The design is based off of modern dragons (the ones that use their wings as support). I could say that they also got the idea from some species of pterosaurs like the Quetzalcoatlus. Either way he looks really intimidating. We do see him able to stand without using his wings so they are used for support
It definitely looks in the motion that he is using the joint in his wing to push himself up so he can start moving his wings. Also in the reveal shot for Ghidorah he is definitely standing with his wings being used for support. Wish I could attach the image here, but I'm at work. Also in the scene where he lands in the trailer and his heads dip really low to the ground it seems like he's probably landing on all fours.
Honestly, I just really wanna see, at least for a few minutes, Godzilla, Rodan, and Mothra fighting Ghidorah together. I know that the monster battles are gonna be epic, and that in the end, it's Godzilla vs. Ghidorah, but I want just one shot with all four monsters in it. That's the dream
Clearly you are the parent of the year to so bestow your children with kaiju goodies. Keep on rocking.
Pretty Damn Cool
Dman1954 is awesome!
Hey man, we still have 2 years to go and 2 movies to be released. Anything can happen at this point and hopefully Toho will see the huge potential of the Monsterverse and extend the contract. We just have to wait and see what happens.
Haha yes, let's hope Legendary and WB continue the Monsterverse on and renew licenses for a phase 2. Not sure if Toho will bite, though.
"1. Yes, but not this soon. Maybe in the big finale movie of Phase 2 but not in GvK."
Phase 2, eh? I suppose optimism is important.
Oh dude , it was the way he was designed, giant monster atomic breath big spikes swims underwater, he’s a beast ! A freaking GOD he’s just always been my thing, my favorite. Just imagine anything beating him. But i think his story and design is brings me joy honesty
My kids saw these the other day and were so excited my oldest son (8) almost fainted! They had exactly one of each: Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, King Ghidorah and King Caesar. We let them use some Christmas money to get all four! Super exciting!
There awesome
1. Yes, but not this soon. Maybe in the big finale movie of Phase 2 but not in GvK.
2. Yes
3. Hopefully even more demon like. Something like this design of destroyah made by InkVeil-Matter on DeviantArt.
1. I hope not.
2. If they introduce something like the Oxygen Destroyer in this universe than I can see later on introducing a monster that is based off of that.
3. Don't care.
1. No
That pretty much covers all the other questions too
Nod to Final Wars when Ozaki transferred his Kaiser power to Godzilla to help defeat Kaiser Ghidorah. I bet Dougherty watched that move for inspiration... and said... how about Mothra transferring her energy to Godzilla to defeat Ghidorah? Now if that's the case... we're gonna be in for a treat.
I don't think destroyah will be in the monsterverse.
Sorry to all who think he will be though
Thats pretty cool
That's typical of TOHO. It's actually traditional. I wonder what a Japanese dubbed version of KOM with English subtitles would be like ? If they did it... I would buy it and watch it for sure.
Could also be a nod to "Fire Rodan"
While I agree with some of what's being said here I also disagree with it at points. While I will never argue that Ford got "enough" character development, I think he got what he needed for the story. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like some on here would have liked to have seen a more archetypal heroes journey for Ford. But I don't think that was the arc they ever had intended for him. Ford Brody goes through just enough character development to give us a sense of who he is. Pardon the following synopsis. When he is young we see he loves his parents and is disappointed that he can't surprise his father with the sign that he made him. Then when the nuclear plant is being destroyed we see how it terrifies him and we can relate because we would all be in the same frame of mind watching our parents place of work be destroyed. Cut to Lt. Brody EOD tech and US Navy... I think it's not ever really stated. Or I missed it. Either way he is asked if has family waiting for him and he says I hope so, meaning he is hoping that his family is there and he can come back to a normal life. But also having seen what we just saw it also hints at a possible underlying worry that he will be left alone again. We see how much he loves his wife and child and get a pretty good scene of them together in my opinion then he's off to Japan. With his father he finally comes to the realization that he can't keep running from what has happened and we get a hint that he doesn't like destruction, he specifically tells his dad that his job is stopping bombs not blowing them up.
When in Japan, he starts to reconnect with his father and encounters his past both mentally and physically. Then when the male MUTO escapes and Joe Brody dies, we get a call to action for him that he refuses. instead of joining the hunt he elects to get back to his family. Then he's not really given the choice once once the events in Hawaii happen. While I admit the whole thing with the kid is a little short and could have been better showing that he can still speak broken Japanese and that he hasn't completely buried his past. That would have been a great scene but we didn't get it. G-man throws down with the MUTO and it's off to San Francisco. At this point he's too deep and we get to see soldier Ford. He's serious about his job and he's good at it. He makes a mistake telling Elle to stay put with his son as he thinks he'll beat the MUTO's and Godzilla there to get them out because of the train. This fails and while he knows his son is safe he continues to ask for his wife. At this point he may think she's dead we don't know. Then to serve his country he embarks on the mission into the city.
I have a great memory don't I? Now that's not the point of that WALL OF TEXT, just being dramatic there. As an amateur writer seeing the beats of story is becoming more easy for me. Again I would have liked to see more growth from Ford, but I don't think that was the point of the story being told. The story was of an ordinary man in an extraordinary situation. I'm no soldier, but put in that same situation would I have reacted differently? I don't know and I think that's the beauty of Fords character. We can see ourselves in him. He is relate-able enough that we can sympathize with him within the story that he is placed into. Compare this if you would to Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park he doesn't change at all in the movie. We meet him as a snarky mathematician and that's how he ends the movie. That's very similar to Ford, we meet him as a soldier/family man with an estranged father and he ends the movie basically the same. And people love Ian Malcolm. So while I agree more character development would have been good, I can't say he sucks because in my opinion he doesn't. Thanks for reading
Over half of the NECA figures I buy break, so I'm going to get the SHMA one.
NECA needs to do more Showa figures. The two they've done so far look fantastic--Their best Godzillas.
Fire Godzilla is a generic name. It should have been a more awesome name like Blazing Godzilla.
I still prefer Thermal Godzilla.
Yess! Fire Godzilla is not melting down! Thank you Dougherty! Reminds me of dark Supercharged Godzilla from Trendmasters back in 90s! This is so awesome! Please don't kill Ghidorah or mess over his heads. Nice to see our father and Lord Godzilla controlling his heat output like Scarlet Godzilla in the anime!
^Exactly.
This Godzilla moves and acts like a gigantic animal would if they didn't have to worry about physics at that size. Many gods throughout history have been portrayed as animals, so Godzilla moving like a giant animal isn't a mark against his "god status", as Mike Dougherty put it.
