All I can say is that nothing will ever beat the astounding quality and storyline of Who’s afraid of Godzilla? and Godzilla likes to roar
I just looked, and as of the time this comment is sent, it's over 9,800. Come on, guys. Help out. We're almost there.
Edit: I forgot to mention that it just needs 150 more signatures to reach its goal.
For the connection of Jurassic World to Godzilla: If the dinosaurs can't even survive a single volcano, then what makes you think they could survive an Earth full of giant monsters that are essentially living, breathing, radioactive natural disasters that can move wherever they please? Same thing for the connection of Jurassic World to Pacific Rim.
For the connection of Pacific Rim to Godzilla: The Jaegers couldn't even handle the kaiju coming from the breach that much, so what chance would they have against that and an Earth full of native kaiju, with both appearing at the same time?
Sorry, but I think it's safe to say that they are not connected in any way.
Godzilla looks okay (at best), and King Ghidorah just looks like a generic dragon (I expected more with the latter.), but what happened to Rodan and Mothra? Mothra looks like she's diseased with something that gave her discoloration while adding black and while also misshaping her body and head, and Rodan looks like someone tried to mix the Showa and Millenium designs together, but it failed miserably because they messed up on the head and wings and they didn't go back to fix it.
I don't think there would be, especially after the negative criticism the film got at the time. But you (we, actually [the rest of the website users]) could try.
I honestly want all of the toho kaiju in the monsterverse.
I will always want Mechagodzilla being in the Monsterverse. I know it is an outlandish idea and that it is campy, but giant mechas have been part of the kaiju genre for centuries. when you are making a shared universe with kaiju you NEED giant mechas. It just needs time to set them up and properly explain the reason for mechas in a realistic way for them to work, but there are a lot of talented writers in Hollywood how can possibly do it.
The same could basically be said about Gigan and we all know that we need more of him in any way, shape or form.
As for other kaiju, I am so confident that if there is going to be a Godzilla 3 and they could use an existing Toho kaiju as the villain, it would have to be Biollante. I have already made a topic on why, but I won't repeat myself here.
Anguirus is almost a must-have. He is basically the number 6 of Toho's top 5 even though, when you think about it, he hasn't been in a lot of movies. With his easy to explain origin, already realistic design and having a clear role in the Godzilla franchise, Anguirus would just be perfect for the Monsterverse.
Godzilla JR./Minilla would also be a great opportunity for America to redeem themselves after the knocked Jurrasic park raptors from the 1998 movie and overall could give Godzilla more character as a father figure.
Hey everyone, I just realized something about the official art book. And that is this: Heed this warning everyone. Get ready for all the images of Rodan almost having bird wings in the final movie.
GojiFanPat Yeah, sounds about right.
Edit: GojiFan99 I forgot to say it when you first made the topic, but welcome back to the site. Enjoy your return, and can't wait to see which team you join.
GojiFanPat You know, I honestly would want Gorosaurus, Anguirus, Baragon, and both of Godzilla's sons (Yes, both Minilla and Godzilla Jr. from the Heisei Era. It would be interesting to see them interacting with each other as brothers.) to be included in the Monsterverse. Basically, I'm a sucker for dinosaurs (and prehistoric reptiles in general), although Battra and Megaguirus wouldn't be a bad option, either.
Hmm... I've never heard of this game you speak of
Rodan bowing to Ghidorah? No way.....
Happy Enterprises, you're thinking the same prices that I'm thinking they'd be
Jesus Christ, what is wrong with Rodan's head?
I want them both!
Pink here ......
Im glad to find the sight and join. The first memory of Gojira was 1962 and I couldn’t even walk. It was the 1955 version Godzilla King of the Monsters with Raymond Burr. I remember just being terrified and fascinated. I wanted to believe such things were real. As a child growing up, things weren’t ideal in my life but I could escape to my world of dinosaurs Gojira and the Universal Monsters. Every year a new offering and I devoured it. Back then, it was Friday night and Saturday morning creature features. There were no vhs or dvds. Still I have always had Godzilla toys tapes dvds etc. when I could build my library I ended up with all of the works of every Kaiju including the Grandaddy of all of them King Kong. I watch them constantly and once a year invest two weeks to bing every movie in chronological order. I enjoy fellow fan’s podcasts as long as they are not disrespectful of Gojira. I will never miss the opportunity to see a new release in a theater and get such a high seeing grown men filling a theater - with little or no children or women. I just laugh to myself and think - yeah we all get it. I love to point out the silly stuff (I am also a huge fan of Ultraman) but I truly prefer when Gojira is pissed. My favorite scene is the ending of Gojira 2000 when he is just pissed and spins around 360 degrees with his atomic breath burning the entire city.
While it is true that the 70’s were campy - we must remember that Gojira 1954 was a very serious film that was a response to the horrors Japan faced as a result of the nuclear bomb. It also was a love story. In the 80’s and forward Gojira again became a force against mankind’s disregard for the planet.
Of course, we have to remove the American bastardizations and dubs - especially 1955 King of the Monsters, King Kong V Godzilla 1963, Godzilla 1995 and Godzilla 1998. I love all of these films but let’s face it - you can’t take them serious. Ok, Gojira vs King Ghidorah and the beach scene with the Godzillasarus is pretty hilarious too. And there is Final Wars which is a blast for us Gojira fans but for a TOHO work - Uhm yeah we only have to remember “X”.
Godzilla 2014 was a serious work just think of it as an introduction to the big guy with 11 minutes of screen time. I know we are all excited to see what the last two films are like.
Netflix’s joint venture with TOHO was very well made. If you love anime like me and love Gojira - you should see them. Serious work for sure.
Hanna Barbara Godzilla and Godzooky - you need to be a G fan. All cartoons sucked then - trust me as I was a kid then.
The 1998 Godzilla cartoon wasn’t campy and was actually better than the movie.
Shin Godzilla 2016 - many hate it. I love it. It was serious and I hate that it won’t be continued.
This brings us full circle to the question of survival without camp and the Gojira Universe. I think this is an incredible idea on Toho’s part. With the successes of Marvel and DC rebooting characters from a serious side, it only makes sense that Gojira and the monster island gang get the same shot. Can you imagine Varan, Gorosaurus, Angiuras, Gigan and King Ghidorah being reworked from a modern realistic perspective? I am chomping at the bit.
As one who has watched Gojira since 1962 and knows every detail by heart - I want a serious view that returns to when Gojira was nominated for two Japanese academy awards and won one for special effects (the other was 7 samurai, there was no way Gojira could beat it for best picture). I love the camp it makes me laugh so hard. I would recommend watching all in Japanese as they are not as campy.
Yoosh!
I would be interesting in the design process of the kaijus. Dougherty mentioned this in some of the interviews (i.e. give each Ghidorah head an individual personality or longer legs for Mothra), but I would like to read more details on it.
Negative 2 cents.
If I lose, you pay me 2 cents
If you win, You give yourself 2 cents
EASY
I want in on this bet. How much? Haha
Well, like I said... there's a lot of fake stuff being tossed around. And it's made its way in this thread. ;)
I am usually not the kind of guy that looks at the behind the scenes stuff, but for this movie specifically, I am very interested in what other designs and concepts they had for this movie. I am definitely going to get this sometime.
Can't wait to see all the alternate designs for our Toho Dragon Lords!
^Ehhh... Might want to double check some of that Gmkgoji.
Yup. Rodan sure looks atrocious
Yeah, they're real, unfortunately in some cases. I've been an avid Godzilla figure collector for over 20 years now and the Bandai vinyls have always been my favorites for their simplicity and nostalgia value, and some of them really are great sculpts, but the last few years have not been exactly stellar for the line. Anyone who picked up the Anime Ghidorah knows how bad some of their efforts have been lately. I pre-ordered two of the Ghidorahs pictured above for me and my brother but otherwise I'm sticking with NECA this time around for affordable but decent looking representations of the characters. Just can't really bring myself to want to blow the money on most of these, especially that Rodan....my gosh did they drop the ball on that one.
@_ElPanchoNews_, The other titans are used to show how King Ghidorah becomes the king of the monsters.
MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD
After the oxygen destroyer nearly kills Godzilla, King Ghidorah flies over to Rodans volcano, and as Rodan bows to Ghidorah, Ghidorah emits a blood-curdling screech, and all sorts of titans begin to awake around the world
Serious portrayal or campy portrayal, I am fine with both. KOTM is clearly going with the serious portrayal.
Of course, a serious portrayal of the big G can still mean a fun movie to watch.
My guess based on past releases is that mothra will be around $50-$60 and released in Japan in July and August in the US. Whereas Rodan will be in the $70-$80 price range and released in August in Japan and September in the US
The other monsters that appear in the movie, are they relevant? At what point do they appear, what happened to Millie's brother and what the hell does Charles Dance want?
Why does the Son of Kong in this picture look like George from Rampage (2018)?
Wow, I really like your take on a Monsterverse version of Gigan. I really like the way you made Gigan an alien and a human construct at the same time. Using the name Gigan as a codename and making the monster named after that is very cool as well.
After hearing that Michael Dougherty has an interest in possibly bringing Gigan to the Monsterverse in a possible Godzilla 3, I would love to see this origin of yours included in that movie.
My origin really would fit more in a Destroy all monsters type of movie.
Zilladude, your drawings aren’t bad, it takes practice over and over, success does not come for free. It takes effort to make things come out the way you want! Anyway, here’s my bad Godzilla(I’m not bashing myself, it’s just a bit dirty)
So my idea of how to bring Gigan into the monsterverse is slightly different. As a matter of fact i'm doing an Audio Drama series on it calle Project G.I.G.A.N.

Check it out and let me know what you think!
planning on picking it up with the prequel comic if I can.
