Yes, you read that right. Thanks to the "Animation Film Godzilla Special Stage" event that occurred yesterday (japan time) at the AnimeJapan 2017 convention, we now have confirmation that the new Godzilla anime film (titled Godzilla: Monster Planet) will only be the beginning.
The announcement of two follow up anime films means that there are now a total of SIX Godzilla films in development: Legendary’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs Kong, the still unconfirmed Shin Godzilla sequel (although it seems inevitable), the upcoming Godzilla: Monster Planet, and now its two sequels. It is, as they say, an UNBELIEVABLE time to be a fan.
In addition, character names/artwork were revealed. Check out the characters below!
Mamoru Miyano plays the lead role, Haruo Sakaki.
Takahiro Sakurai plays Metphies, the Exif alien who understands Haruo well
Kana Hanazawa plays the heroine Yuko Tani, who grew up with Haruo after he was orphaned
Tomokazu Sugita plays Martin Lazzari, an optimistic environmental biologist working with the military
Yuuki Kaji plays Adam Bindewald, a young landing ship pilot who respects Haruo
Junichi Suwabe plays Mulu-Elu Galu-gu, a Bilsard alien
