how to include King Caesar into the monsterverse

MemberTitanosaurusApr-16-2018 7:15 AMKing Caesar, such an interesting kaiju and one of my favorite kaiju of the Showa series. People seem to really want to see king Caesar make a comeback in one of the legendary movies. For a while, I thought he would be too similar to Mothra seeing as they are both mythical godlike protectors. But recently I got an idea for how he could stand out as a kaiju and give us something that no other movie in the Monsterverse could even come close to.
I do want to point out that this is all speculation. I am not saying everything in here HAS to happen. This is just the way I would do it.
if king Caesar were to be introduced into the Monsterverse, I think it should be in his own movie. some people might think that a movie about king Caesar might not be popular enough to bring in a lot of money at the box office, but to that, I say "black panther".
the question is what would that movie be about. I think it should be an origin story for King Caesar. I think it would be about the legend of the Shisa (the creature that King Caesar is based on). for the people who don't know the legend, I will explain it here.
note: this will mostly be some history of Japan. for the people that already know some of these things, you can always skip this part. I will highlight the part where my theory starts. I would recommend reading the history anyway to make you understand the things I will be talking about in a minute better.
When a Chinese emissary returned from a voyage to the court at Shuri Castle, he brought a gift for the king, a necklace decorated with a figurine of a Shisa. The king found it charming and wore it underneath his clothes. At the Naha Port bay, the village of Madanbashi was often terrorized by a sea dragon who ate the villagers and destroyed their property. One day, the king was visiting the village, and one of these attacks happened; all the people ran and hid. The local priestess had been told in a dream to instruct the king when he visited to stand on the beach and lift up his figurine towards the dragon; she sent the boy to tell him the message. He faced the monster with the figurine held high, and immediately a giant roar sounded all through the village, a roar so deep and powerful that it even shook the dragon. A massive boulder then fell from heaven and crushed the dragon's tail, so that he couldn't move, and eventually died. This boulder and the dragon's body became covered with plants and surrounded by trees and can still be seen today as the "Gana-mui Woods" near Naha Ohashi bridge. The townspeople then built a large stone shisa to protect it from the dragon's spirit and other threats.
the story is never specified to take place in a certain time period, so the story could also some history of Okinawa being the invasion of the Ryukyu island (1609 AD). for the people that don't know what I am talking about, in 1609 the Ryukyu islands were invaded by the Shimazu clan from the Satsuma domain. Eventually, after many years the Shimazu clan won the war and the islands became part of Japan. you can learn more about the invasion here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invasion_of_Ryukyu
here will start the actual theory.
The complete origin of King Caesar really depends on how realistic and believable you want to make him. Is he a lion/dog with an incredibly long lifespan that evolved over the millions of years or was he always this big lion dog-creature and is the last of his kind. If there are any alternatives, please let me know, because I have no idea at this point. If he is that old though, his domain would have to be terrain that eventually becomes Okinawa. This would give King Caesar a reason to protect Okinawa and its inhabitants. He probably stayed underground for the most part of his life (hollow earth theory?) where he got very intelligent over the many years. He occasionally would have gotten out of hiding and saw humans and they saw him, spawning the shisa culture.
this is when the legend could happen from earlier. the king goes to a village that's being terrorized by a water dragon (Manda maybe?) and uses his shisa statue to summon king Caesar. king Caesar defeats the dragon and went away. But here is the twist. The priestess that was told in a dream to instruct the king to do this, was king Caesar telepathically communicating with the priestess (through visions and not actually talking). later that same year, king Caesar communicated with the priestess again and told her to propose the king to have king Caesar as Okinawa's protector, but the people of Okinawa had to make a temple for him first. this temple would serve as his resting place. a place where he would stay until the royal Azumi family needs its help again. the king agreed, and plans were made for a temple close to the Shuri castle.
Now here I will throw in some real-life history into the mix. In 1609 the Ryukyu islands were invaded by the Shimazu clan from the Satsuma domain before the temple was constructed. this was a time were the royal Azumi family needed king Caesar the most. they prayed for him to come and he eventually did fight back the invaders. the Shimazu clan was surprised by this and retreated. they came up with a plan to stop king Caesar. their plan was to lure him into a cave with no escape besides the entrance and trap him in theirs. they executed the plan and it worked. king Caesar was trapped history went the same way as it did in real life.
the royal family prayed to King Caesar for forgiveness because they were too late making the temple. king Caesar replied basically saying he has a temple now (being the place where he was locked up). King Caesar chooses to stay there until a family member of the Azumi family needs him again when a new threat arrives (so he can come back in a “destroy all monsters” type movie).
I also wanted to point out what powers/abilities king Caesar would have in the Monsterverse. I can confidently say that he would still be very agile like in his other appearances. Like I mentioned in the story he would have the ability to talk to humans through telepathy and showing visions. He would also be very intelligent, learning from past attacks. It would also be nice to see his power to absorb beams and shoot them back, but that’s maybe a to unbelievable for a realistic universe.
And that is it. this was a very long forum this time, but I had a lot of fun making it. I have learned a lot about the Japanese history just by doing research on this topic. this was more a plot for a solo movie than an explanation for how he could fit in, but unlike Gigan and Mechagodzilla, King Caesar is way more difficult to explain because he doesn’t have much of an origin in the original movie. Thank you all so much for reading this and I hope to hear some of your reactions. Also, what kaiju would like to see next in this series? Right now Gorosaurus and Biollante are the top runners.
