Their facebook was the page I was talking about, getting kind of worried because still no shipping estimate from amazon and it's a little more than two weeks from release. That in itself is a red flag.
Beware of the Wal-Mart Preorder card! Saw it yesterday and was waiting at the checkout when I started reading it. It was like a gift card and you buy it and then they normally send you the disc in the mail upon release. This one (the only Godzilla in the display) is DIGITAL COPY ONLY. $20-$25 for Digital copy is crazy! Pay the same price for the blu-ray and get the UV included. FYI to the VUDU/Flixster users, Godzilla is available Aug. 26th digital only. The Bluray/dvd are still September 16th.
^Ouch. What a rip. And borderline scheme. Thanks for the heads up Wraith.
Godzilla 2014 might be available on itunes here before to long.

Kieth Aiken at SciFi Japan got advanced copies Sony's upcoming batch. He says the discs are minor improvements over the last batch a couple of months ago.
The extras are exactly as they say, but with Godzilla 2000 only the Japanese trailer is included. Which is a shame because the US trailer is pretty fun.
The GMK subtitles are apparently very similar to the DVD release from the early 2000s, unfortunately. But there are changes. The biggest change is the infamous subtitle goof when Tachibana and his partner celebrate when they accidently King Ghidorah under water. "Excellent!" was the original subtitle. It has now been changed to, "F--k!" and it's uncensored. So that's... interesting...
I'll try to contain my shock, but Destroy All Monsters and Godzilla vs. Megalon have now been delayed until September 2nd.
Page updated, although I have my doubts we'll see them by September 2nd or next month at all.
Who didn't see that coming?
I'm just glad I got them both on DVD when they first released them. I'm not holding out hopes for them actually releasing the blu-rays within the year. And I hope they don't pick up the rights to Son of Godzilla and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla.
I read an artical dated around the end of 2012 I think that stated media blasters had around 15-16 people on full time staff and laid off all but six. Whenever some error happens with their dics it's always because "they went out of house" with the encoding or something in those lines. They never step up and take responsibility for their products. I've been reading their facebook page and it seems all their attention is focused on making some beyond cheesy b-movie. Numerous unanswered complaints. Their websites are all down now too. I really think they are almost done, ready to fold. Canceling my amazon order.
According to Media Blaster's facebook page, Destroy All Monsters and Godzilla vs. Megalon are shipping to stores today.
Surprise?
And they said to order now before they sell out again. I guess I'll preorder just in case this is the real deal. I am NOT missing out on getting these on blu-ray.
Amazon still lists the release date for both as Sept. 2nd. Do you think that means Media Blasters hasn't actually shipped yet or that Amazon simply hasn't updated the pages yet? How long does it normally take for something to become available on Amazon after it's shipped to them?
Sounds to me like Sept. 2nd is about right. A lot of retail get movies, music...etc... in about two weeks before their street date. I'm not sure if it works the same for Amazon, but I would bank on the Spet. 2nd release now.
Highdef digest hasn't had them listed since the first release date came and went but just listed them today for Aug. 26th. I don't know what to belive anymore. I will be so glad when this is just over and done with. GMAN hit it right between the eyes with his comments about this company. God help us if they pick up any more G titles!
Apparently Deep Discount DVDs has them in with free shipping.
Aside from the poster on MB's facebook every store site is still listing tomorrow Aug. 26th for release of megalon/DAM. Fingers crossed........
I got word from a member from another site that he got confirmation email his copy was shipped to him from Deep Discount. So, there you go...
Placed order with deep discount and they are already back ordered. I can't catch a break at all.........
Ended up having to buy them from a store on ebay as EVERY other online store was sold out and back ordered on the day of release. Has anybody got theirs yet? If so, how are they?
I've yet to get Godzilla vs. Megalon. Not going to bother with Destroy All Monsters since I got Media Blasters original release of that years back. Having trouble finding the Megalon Blu though.
There're only 3 movies left, as far as I know, that need to be released in the USA in their original Japanese cuts. "King Kong vs Godzilla", "King Kong Escapes", and "The Return of Godzilla".
My order is still pre-ordered on Amazon. I haven't recieved word that my order is backordered, so I'm crossing my fingers that no news is good news. I'll know tomorrow since that's when Amazon says it's getting released.
I read last night that Amazon keeps to the dates they have listed whether something is shipped early or not. So Amazon won't be shipping anything until tomorrow. (I don't think they ship on Labor Day.)
Don't know why my posts keep disapearing. Anywho, as of this morning amazon was back-ordered or temp. out of stock on megalon and listed 5 available on monsters. This is just crazy on the part of media blasters. Who knows when they will get around to making more copies if at all. I have a feeling if their movie tanks then thats all folks, ass blasters close their doors.
My bluray copies from Ebay of both movies both get here today, just hoping they are legit copies and not bootlegs. Rarely buy DVD/Blurays from them for that reason but took a chance for my G collection. Fingers crossed............
I saw that on Amazon too. Not sure if my order got placed or is on back-order. I'm now fearing that it's the latter.
I agree concerning Media Blasters. Only making 5000 copies of each is pathetic. This seems more like a hostage situation than anything else. Though I doubt the movies did poorly since it seems they sold all the copies already. That's good news for them, bad news for us. After the first fiasco with these films and now this current one, Media Blasters needs to close it's doors for good and the rights to these films being picked up by a company that is actually going to put some effort into it. I shudder to think of them buying the rights to other films I like. I'll be beside myself if they announce they got the rights to Son of Godzilla and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla.
Got a response from Amazon after asking them what was up with my order. They gave me very non-commital answers simply repeating what the site already says: "Temp out of stock" and "usually ships within 12 days". They did upgrade my order to free overnight shipping, but with Media Blasters track record I don't trust it, even with their recent vague FB post they put up a few hours ago.
So I simply bit the bullet and ordered off of ebay(something I never do). Supposedly I'll get it around next week Tuesday. Hopefully it's legit. If it is and the seller still has copies on sale after I get it, I'll post here that it's safe.
Plus I didn't cancel my Amazon order. If Amazon suddenly restocks within a week, I guess I'll have two copies. Not something I want to do, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.
Just got both blurays today from ebay. Megalon looked ok and am presently watching DAM. I'd say roll the dice as everyone else is sold out. I'd swear Megalon is the Japanese version, there were alternate sceens and the dialog was tweeked a little bit. I've watched it so many times so I know it pretty well. there were some very rough edits too. all in all worth the money and waiting.
^Glad you enjoyed it. Not sure if I'll be able to get my hands on one. Apparently Media Blasters only printed 5000 copies of each film... I won't cry when they go out of business.
Just finished Destroy All Monsters. They re-did the subtitles on it also. And really bad too. In the scene when running from Rodan the co-pilot says "It sucks running, why can't we fight" or something close to that. When he says "what do you think? Can we out run him?" in the dvd. Useless changes like that just annoy the crap out of me. I don't know what they did to this movie but the mat scenes look pretty bad. The model scenes are flat but the people are super sharp. Megalon didn't look like this, in fact it looked great. really disapointed in this one. Any luck on Megalon GMAN? I got mine from ebay, worth a shot.
