@Valkorin
Way too overboard of reaction. If anything I think the tongue and cheekiness of this commercial grabs a different audience for the movie.
It shows Legendary isn't so uptight and dead-pan serious (like you're being). If you can't poke fun at yourself there's not much point in gaining an audience. That's exactly what's happening here. Although the movie itself is a "serious and dark" product, this ad works to acknowledge a broader side to Godzilla that could attract other people. Or at least get them interested.
Plus I'm not sure what you expect from Snickers commercial. Does anyone really think Snickers, Subway or some other company is going to do a dark, gritty, evil, nuclear holocaust Godzilla ad for their FOOD product? Hell no. That would just confuse audiences looking at the product.
Face it guys. The movie itself is dark and serious, but Godzilla gives off a much broader vibe than that. Embracing other facets of the franchise and playing them up seems like a wise idea to me.

this is hilarious but also good for the marketing and to get people more intrested in seeing the new movie.

Hahaha, yeah dude, they should really get to work penning some dark nuclear holocaust commercials.
"Eat a Snickers NOW or Godzilla will eat your family!!!!" Great angle to grab the children's market :-)
"When all your loved ones are gone, and your home is a radioactive wasteland...there is one thing you can still count on.....Twinkies: Surviving Godzilla and pretty much everything else since 1647"
Being more serious for a minute...I do wish the commercial had SOMETHING to let people know that the movie isn't a rubber suit Godzilla movie. Like, they could have kept it the exact same, but at the end, put in even just a 1-2 second clip from the trailer....like Godzilla roaring while the doors are being closed on him....or something.
I understand the commercial was primarily harmless fun, but if you haven't seen the trailer, and your first knowledge of this movie came from that Snicker's commercial (which WILL be the case for some people) I think it's a weak first impression.
In any case, it's not a huge deal no matter how you slice it. It's important to keep perspective and not blow things out of proportion.
Ya know what madison, your right I shoud try penning a daek and gritty snicker's commercial, so here's the first draft.
So the commercial starts with me Sending out a hit on a smartass, and Godzilla's just sitting at home on his Ipad and recives the hit as well as the reward, a snicker's bar, obviously Godzilla accepts the offer and Atomic breath's the smartasses house, Godzilla then bring's me back the smartasses scorched remains, I do a DNA test to make shure it's the right smartass, and the test comes back as a match, now with the contract complete, I unwrap a snickers bar and toss it into Godzilla's mou and he walk's off into the sunset and Godzilla's theme starts playing as the screen fade's to black.
Wow I even suprise myself with great ideas.
" It is better to be reviled than ignored, agleast then you know your spreading good in this world."

^Apparently your great ideas equate bad come backs and no sense of humor at all... :/
Why Gman that wasnt a come back, madison asked me to pen up a dark and gritty snicker's commercial and I did just that, so I haaave no ideeea what you meen by a bad comeback when all I did was indulge madison's request.
Dark Gritty=Humor=No
" It is better to be reviled than ignored, agleast then you know your spreading good in this world."

Uh-huh. You'd make a fine politician.
