Predator: Badlands - coming November 7th, 2025
I first saw Godzilla in Godzilla 2010. But i really became a fan just a few months ago.
My love of dinosaurs lead me to Godzilla and it was a wrap after that! Dope look and abilities, especially the other monsters!
I became a fan when I was about 4. I used to watch the original raymond burr version and then later as I got older, growing up around Washington DC, I'd watch them on channel 20 (anyone remember captain 20?). My best memory had to be back in the 70s when dad took me to see Godzilla vs the Mechagodzilla at the drive in. I hated the Matthew Broderick movie
Of course, it's a big monster stomping the city that is waht made me a godzilla fan :D but there is something too that made me a godzilla fan..... his old films.
I became a mega G fan shortly after seeing the 2014 film. I'm not too good at explaining things, but I've always been fascinated with giant monsters; It really helps me escape.
excellent question, thanks for asking. I remember seeing an ad for kotm when I went to the theatres to watch the most recent how to train your dragon movie, and I realized I knew practically nothing about the monster (Not even how many films were in monsterverse) so when I got home I put "Godzilla" into the search bar. I was so enamoured I went to see kotm a week later. that's my story.
Have been a Godzilla fan for as long as I can remember! Thank you for welcoming me to the group. I love classic and vintage sci-fi and horror movies with Godzilla and likewise other giant monsters being my favorite.
I became a Godzilla fan because of my father. I can't remember why specifically I took so much of a liking to the series because I was too young. However I do remember that I would binge the movies with my dad. I woudnt have gotten into such a great franchise without you, thank you dad, rest in peace.
My mom introduced him to me when I was about 7 or 8 years old. She was never a fan, but she vividly remembers watching the original and keeps mentioning a black-n-white one with Godzilla and another dinosaur-like creature fighting (Godzilla Raids Again).
I guess he didn't click with me until a while later when I found out there was going to be a sequel to the 2014 film. I decided to revisit that movie, as I had watched it before (but in a very bad viewing experience). I loved it, and I decided to rewatch the original (which I had also already seen). I realized I wasn't old enough to appreciate that movie when I had first seen it.
"What’s so great about discovery? It’s a violent, penetrative act that scars what it explores. What you call discovery, I call the rape of the natural world."
— Dr. Ian Malcolm, Jurassic Park (1993)
What's not appealing about a giant radioactive mutant zombie dinosaur wreaking havoc on those who, instead of caring for the Earth, go about pillaging it instead?
It was love at first stomp!

I was very young and always a fan of dinosaurs and big reptiles and such. I don't know exactly when I was exposed or what the crystallizing moment was, but I that around 4-5 years old I was watching the Hanna-Barbera cartoon on Cartoon Network, the movies on Disney Channel* (mostly during their Triple-Feature Fridays; my Mom recorded a couple of those nights on VHS so we could watch them anytime, I particularly remember watching the Ghidorah triple of Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster, Monster Zero, and Godzilla vs Gigan), and a cheap knockoff Godzilla toy my Nana got me thinking it was a dinosaur toy. It's become family legend that I opened it (it was a birthday or Christmas gift) and when she said "I hope you like your new dinosaur," I put my hands on my hips and said "Nana, that's not a dinosaur - it's Godzilla!" I still have that toy.
With all of that, I think becoming a fan was inevitable. Now I have a room full of amazing kaiju swag and no money XD
*I'm pretty sure it was Disney. It might have been ABC or TNT, though. I was 4-5ish.
The imagery, the music, the sound effects but most of all the giant, misunderstood hero. The way he battles back after almost total defeat!
I've been a fan of monsters since I was a little kid. I guess it's the fun aspects of watching large beasts wreck everything and use their abilities to take their foes down. A creepypasta actually helped me build hype for Godzilla: King of the Monsters when I heard about the sequel. (It is NES Godzilla if anyone's wondering.)
¿Qué me hizo fanático de Godzilla? Todo empezó cuando pude ver Godzilla 2000, ahí fue cuando descubrí el universo de Godzilla, tendría 12 años maso menos.
