Is Netflix Changing Movie Theatres? Find out Here

A night out can be expensive, even when you are just going to the movies. Parking, food, concessions and more can all add up. This is why so many people are watching movies and TV shows in the comfort of their own home. After all, it adds up, and if you watch TV in the comfort of your home, you will soon find that it is not only cheaper, but it is also a much less stressful experience. Theatre chains have to find ways to try and fill those empty seats and that is why they are putting out restaurant-quality services. They are also putting in reclining seats as well as serving food and drink to patrons as they sit and watch the movie. That being said, there are still many empty seats.

Regal Cinemas

What is happening to the movie industry right now, has already happened to the casino industry. If you look at the casino industry, you will soon see that it has changed a lot. People once ventured far and wide to get that casino experience, but now they can play at an online casino from the comfort of their own home. So what are the casino industry doing about it? Nothing that the movie industry isn't, from more expansive offerings to unique experiences. That being said, the movie industry really isn’t taking off in the same way. Regal Cinemas have announced that they have a new ticket plan available. Regal Unlimited is a program that is due to start in the next few days at the time of writing. Regal customers will have to pay $18 a month and if they do then they can then see as many movies as they want amongst any of their movie screens. The bigger the city is, the more expensive the subscription will be. Customers will have  to commit to a period of 12 months as well.

Members who do pay will have access to 200 cinemas as well as getting free popcorn on their birthday. They will also get 10% off any concessions.

AMC

In June, it would appear that AMC, who are one of the biggest theatre chains in the United States, saw a huge boost in their subscription service. They run AMC Stubs A-List. They expected 500,000 subscribers but they ended up with 860,000. With this subscription, people can go to see up to three movies every week and you can also choose your seats and the show that you want to see on your phone. This makes finding a movie way easier and it is just as easy when compared to Hulu or even Netflix. Cinemark who are actually the third-biggest cinema chain in the US have stated that movie makers are going to have to pay nearly $9 per ticket and they will get discounts at the concession stand, amongst other perks. This is  very good, but it is not proving to be as popular as the subscription model. This could be where movies are going right now.
