^And it worked. Without this movie I think we would've seen a lot less films-- if any.

Always perplexed at people who outright "hate" it though. I can understand it's not the strongest of the series, but it's such a hilarious riot I find it impossible not to enjoy.

I started watching Godzilla when I was a kid. The first one I ever watched was Godzilla 1954. I have to say though, the Godzilla from the 60"s and 70's was what made me become a fan. That Godzilla actually had personality and would taunt and dance during fights. He was a badass. I have been the biggest fan ever since. I love me some Godzilla

I like the concept of the idea as it celebrates Godzilla's rich history in preparation for the next installment. Just make sure noone mentions you know who *cough" GINO *cough*

As Durpoo stated, it's as simple as putting [SPOILERS] in the title. If anyone clicks the topic, then it's their fault for seeing spoilers, having been adequately warned.

No amount of discussion should be quelled for such petty reasoning. Especially when the situation is so easily remedied.

I'm likely to come back here after I've seen the movie to gush about how awesome (or not) it was. I won't include spoilers but naturally people are going ot want to continue their discussions about Godzilla and this is the perfect place to do it.

That is obviously fan art. The photoshop levels are painfully bad.

We usually work hard to keep spoilers at a minumum when a movie is released so don't worry. People are asked to add a *spoilers* caption to their posts titles and people are forwarned to proceed with caution when reading the articles. That system worked well for Prometheus so no doubt it will work as well with Godzilla.

@Cobrazilla, "Ferris Bueller vs. The Iguana." That sums the 1998 movie with the highest amount of accuracy in the fewest amount of words except for this one: sh*t.

Ha, I don't see a 2-4 week time frame that I won't see the movie.  Hell, I wouldn't make it through the weekend!  The is the #1 Movie I want to see, since I saw and got disappointed by "Ferris Bueller vs The Iguana."

People will be excited and if it lives up to the hype, they will be talking.  Probably too quick to throw a "Spoiler" warning up.  The is the nature of the fan site, I'm sorry to say.  For some of us, there is no one else to talk about this to.  You know how people are, you get excited about a Godzilla movie and they look at you like you're crazy.  

So, no offense, view the site at your own risk after the movie, unless you want to be spoiled.  It's a harsh reality, but you know that I'm being real.

Thanks for the correction. There were plenty "Monster 01 meets Monster 02" beforehand, but none had been as successful as this movie and they still tried to take themselves a little too seriously.

I understand and even agree with the sentiment that Universal should've been more hands on with this film. But, like Toho with the new film, why lift a finger to help when you can let another studio do all the work and just reap the profits?

On the other hand I think the sense of nationalism was brought in strong enough by audiences. No need to inject what could almost be percieved as volitile when the people paying to see the movie will bring that to the theaters themselves. I think playing it as light and comedic as possible was wise to ease any likely tension.

We know this is not liable because the new trailer did not come out on the said date and also the source was not mentioned.

But I digress.  This is hysterical!  The true size comparison between the two has always made me laugh. :)

Its amazing to me that the "duel endings" myth is still floating around out there.  After more than fifty years, people still believe it.  I'm not trying to insult anyone or anything like that, but its fascinating to me that in an age where both versions can more easily be viewed than ever before, stories like that are still so ingrained into the fandom.

Anyone who has never seen the Japanese version needs to check it out.  Its great and , not suprisingly, much better than the American version!

I know.  I'm getting sick of the threads about his feet and spines too.  Most of it is whining, and the speculative ones are redundant.  We know what his spines and feet will look like.  The Muto ones will always be speculative until we get a reveal, and I enjoy reading those.  But we already know a trailer may come out the 27th.  This post offered no new information or speculation.  Thats all I was saying.

It is the only logical choice. I hate to spoil it for my fellow Godzilla fans. What kind of person would I be to spoil it. A bad person, thats who.

The movie needs to be discussed after it comes out. Sorry but talking about it for months speculating and hyping just to take a few weeks off when the actual movie comes out doesn't make sense. If you put spoiler in the title, and some1 looks that's on them. 

I don't post on this section too much as opposed to the classic section because there is only so much you can say about speculation, and a lot of the topics that circulate this section are repeats, but once the actual movie comes out and I have material behind my claim of loving or hating it I plan on talking about it. The things done well, the things done poorly, possible sequels, ect. If I make a topic and put spoiler and some1 complains about me spoiling the movie for them when there's clearly a warning I'll laugh at them. 

the reason why TOHO chose King Kong to win was becuase King Kong was more popular than Godzilla at the time the reason he was more popular was probably 1. the re-release of the 1933 King Kong in Japan and 2. King Kong had been well known, after all godzilla only had 1 good movie at the time which was gojira the first movie, also this was godzilla's 3rd movie and king kong had been popular from the start and thanks to re-releases he got even more popularity

I can debunk that for you, because I have the japanese release and the american universal version, they both end the same, of course with the japanese one without the american actors

Maybe you'd be happier if we start another one about his feet, his dorsals or what the Muto's will look like.  Think there are a dozen each of those.

godzilla didn't lose, i don't think you really have to see him to know hes swimming, the showa godzilla is a deep sea creature isn't he?, also, i'm not sure if this is true, but apperantly, it was only the american version that showed kong swinmming away, in the japanese release, it was godzilla you saw swimming away.

Well if this is a hoax, its a well ochestrated one and that in and of itself deserves praise.

You're right in the regard it was the first film to use VS in the title, but it was hardly the first monster mashup film.

I kind of wish this film had been more international and treated with the respect it deserved. We needed more emphasis on the fact that this was two monsters, seperated by nations, battling. I'm not saying it didn't need to be silly, but I would have preferred if universal actually had more to do with the film than it did. 

Personally I would have preferred seeing a nice hybrid American-Tokusatsu film instead of a "Lets just let the japanese do most the work" attitude that Universal had with the movie. I think the whole concept of the film was just... screw it, itll make money no matter how goofy it is.

And make money it did. Kingu Kongu tai Gojira is still the most profitable Godzilla film of all time. It spawned the entire franchise, really. Godzilla made money before that point, but nothing like it did because of this movie.

Mostly due to what I believe to be the nationalism surrounding the movie. 

I feel like the boat has sailed. We'll probably never get a proper rematch-- King Kong is the godfather of all modern creature effects and Godzilla is the god father of all tokusatsu. Its probably best they stay away from each other, if just out of respect for each respective practices. 

Not that I wouldn't love to see it though. I guess as a kid all I wanted to see was 70s kong fight 84 Godzilla, and at this stage I'd still be happy with that too.

I guess I'm just easy to please. 

And thats why Godzilla lost that fight. He was drunk.

I just remembered the only probem i really had with this movie.

The american VHS box had what looked like Kong and Godzilla fighting in a city. Well they were standing in a city that was destroyed. I really wanted to see them fight with buildings around and destroy everything as they brawled but alas the scene never took place.

My most accurate prediction, sometime between now and the 16th of May.  I will hunt for it everyday until then.  I won't get bent out of shape by mistaken predictions, BS, and/or speculation.  When I finally see it, I will appropriately bust a nut.  Till then, I'm saving myself.

@MIKEYNAMZ, I can see where you are coming from. It would be quite interesting to see what that scene looked like.
