Is Godzilla Vs Kong the last film of the Monsterverse?

MemberTitanosaurusApr-10-2017 2:28 PMSo I've recently read that Edwards has had his Kaiju spirit reinvigorated after seeing Kong Skull Island. He said that he's learned a lot about being a director, which I heavily believe, and was approached by Legendary to direct Godzilla vs Kong. While I'm happy with this and hope he does, as he's shown us with Rogue One that he's became a much better director, he said something very interesting. When he was talking about Legendary approaching him on being director and him saying that he would direct if allowed he said "I'm the one that started it, so I feel like I should be the one to finish it". Does this mean that Godzilla vs Kong is in fact the last movie of the series? If so then how will it end, will both die or both live but everone thinks they died. Tell me what you think below!
Also can anyone find the article on this website where the information I just said is at. I just went back through and can't find it anywhere, was the article deleted?

Chris has in fact played a very cold hearted April fools joke on this website with that article you speak of. Damn near had me fooled to be honest.

You've been taken for a ride. Chris played one of the better April Fools articles I've seen and, clearly, some people still believe it. ;)
But... to answer your initial question, had Skull Island flopped I would have said Godzilla vs. Kong will absolutely be the last movie in the Monsterverse--Assuming it gets made at all.
But now that Kong: Skull Island has surpassed Godzilla at the worldwide box office and continues to make money--There's a chance we'll get more after Godzilla vs. Kong. Unless both Godzilla 2 and Godzilla vs. Kong tank bad for some reason.

MemberBaragonApr-10-2017 5:24 PMI really hope Godzilla VS Kong isn't the end, because there is still so much they can do. Why end it after only 4 movies?

MemberTitanosaurusApr-10-2017 6:15 PMWow I'm an idiot XD, but that being said I do agree with you Gman. I would hope to see more from legendary, I'm hopeful that if they continue that they'll bring in Anguirus.

MemberTitanosaurusApr-10-2017 6:44 PMI hope not. I would love to see what else Legendary could do with King Kong

MemberAnguirusApr-15-2017 7:43 AMI think we will definitely see a few movies after GvK. Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla v Kong I think are almost guaranteed fairly good box office earnings, not only because of the fan base, but because the average movie-goer won't give up the opportunity to see 4 kaiju beat the hell out of eachother on-screen, especially if they have household names like Godzilla and King Kong. Jordan Vogt-Roberts said that he would like to make a film about Marlow and Gunpei's 28 years on Skull Island, although he may have been joking. I still think that wouldn't be a bad idea, but it probably won't happen.
It also depends on the fanbase's reaction to both those films. If those films are absolute trash and we would rather not see anymore films again, they won't be made, but I don't think that will happen either.

MemberBaragonApr-15-2017 11:08 AMI think at least Godzilla VS Kong is a guaranteed success, because almost everybody knows them. Whether Godzilla: King of Monsters is is still unknown, but I can imagine people will see it because "Godzilla" is in the title.
Thus, I think it is feasible that more movies could come after, but I just can't shake the feeling that Godzilla VS Kong is the big finale and it's going to end after that anyway. I hope not, but we will have to see.
