MemberBaragonFeb-22-2019 7:35 AMOnly a 10 month gap between installments now, neatly makes up for the 5 year wait methinks.

AdminGodzillaFeb-22-2019 7:48 AMNot surprising after Fast & Furious 9 moved to May 22nd. GvK was going to get killed. A little surprised it was moved to an earlier date though. Luckily it won't face any competition until two weeks later when Mulan comes out--And by then I expect the movie will have largely run out of momentum.

MemberBaragonFeb-22-2019 9:57 AMWhat 5 year wait, YukiSpecial? Kong: Skull Islans is also part of the Monsterverse!

I meant between Godzilla films. When 2014 came out we knew they'd greenlit a sequel, but it took a good while for it to finally get into production, and we didn't immediately know about Kong, that's all I was talking about. I loved Skull Island immensely, don't misunderstand, I was strictly speaking about G-Films.

MemberRodanFeb-22-2019 11:34 AMIt's about time they moved Godzilla king of the monsters up

MemberBaragonFeb-22-2019 2:20 PMWhy did they move it up? If anything, It should've been moved down. But nonetheless, it was a good decision.

I assumed they would push it back as well to allow for a little more post-production time. But the new date is the same weekend Skull Island was released on two years ago--Yet with far less competition. It's also a weekend many schools have spring break, so I'm assuming WB is banking on that as well.

MemberTitanosaurusFeb-22-2019 3:36 PMI remember when I went to the Tuesday showing for Kong: Skull Island after its release where I live, and it was a REALLY packed theatre; had a line-up going in and everything.
I think it's a smart move.

MemberBaragonFeb-22-2019 8:45 PMThat's a relief. This wait is kinda agonizing.

MemberBaragonFeb-25-2019 10:36 AMG. H. (Gman) Yeah. but then again, you never know what movies may also be coming out around that time. (i.e. a new live-action remake of a Disney movie, or another Marvel movie, or even an original film) So really, either way, it is risky.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaFeb-25-2019 10:50 AMMDK 2 (MinecraftDinoKaiju),
But we do know what movies are coming out around that time:
March 6th, 2020 - The Lovebirds, Onward
March 13th, 2020 - Godzilla vs. Kong, Gambit (likely cancelled), Untitled Blumhouse Movie
March 20th, 2020 - I Still Believe, Playing with Fire
March 27th, 2020 - Disney's Mulan, G.I. Joe 3, Snake Eyes
Deadline reported in February that Gambit isn't in active development anymore, Fox has just yet to make an official announcement on the matter.
The only real competition for Godzilla vs. Kong in March is Mulan and that's two weeks later. Something tells me G.I. Joe 3 will move out of the month so it doesn't get bulldozed by Mulan. (Assuming it ever enters production to begin with.)
The rest are romantic comedies, a religious film and a cheaper horror movie. They're no threat.

MemberBaragonFeb-25-2019 11:08 AMYeah, though really, with the *SJW* stuff going on at Disney, Mulan sounds like it might fail. Then again, I could be wrong. Either way, let's just wait and see.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaFeb-25-2019 11:34 AMHonestly, whether Mulan is released that weekend or not I wouldn't expect Godzilla vs. Kong to be #1 for a third weekend anyway.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-25-2019 5:27 PMGuys, I wouldn't be worried about competition. Its ****ing Godzilla vs. Kong, although the performance of Kotm will also debate a little on how well Godzilla vs. Kong will do, but a LOT of people are gonna wanna see Godzilla vs. Kong

MDK 2 (MinecraftDinoKaiju)
MemberBaragonFeb-26-2019 10:28 AMYeah, but still, it's the same thing with Jurassic Park and Transformers: a lot of people still want to see dinosaurs and giant robots, but you need to know who the competition is first.
