Vera Farmiga will star in Michael Dougherty's Godzilla sequel King of the Monsters and in a recent interview with Metro, she reveals some pretty juicy details about her character's role in the upcoming film! Vera plays the role of Dr. Emma Russell, a Paleobiologist and mother to Millie Bobby Brown's character. But what's sparked our interest is her apparent ability to communicate with the Monsters...
She has figured out a way to communicate with the creatures and potentially control them using their bioacoustics on a sonar level. So she is like a DJ for the monsters.
Farmiga stopped short of going into too much detail regarding “Godzilla: King Of The Monsters,” though, especially because, when I brought up director Michael Dougherty, she revealed, “I am still working with him. I still have another day of additional photography.”
... ‘Godzilla’ to me isn’t a film about monsters. It is a film about saving the environment. When it comes down to it that’s what emerged to me off the written page, and so I find that there has to be a little parable in it that makes me interested.
She also made a point of mentioning that Dougherty is handling Godzilla very carefully - making sure he gets it right. This obsession led to many outtakes during production, but we're glad to know Michael is taking this gig seriously. We're sure he will deliver a masterpiece when King of the Monsters hits theaters next year.
